"Hat"[edit]

I think the word 'hat' in this context is a very problematic term. Even though in popular culture, the term "Yellow Hat" or "Red Hat" is commonly used in China and other places, Tibetan Buddhist sects/schools are much more complicated than just Red Hat or Yellow Hat. Gelugpa often wears Yellow Hat, but it doesn't mean all Gelugpa monks wearing yellow hat to differentiate themselves from other sects. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hermitchoni (talkcontribs) 18:23, 5 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Schools or sects[edit]

I think 'schools' is the preferred name, e.g. all the individual school articles predominantly refer to schools. Possibly 'red hat sect' and 'yellow hat sect' are particular usages. However, if that can't be established, I think the article title should be 'Red Hat schools'. Aarghdvaark (talk) 02:07, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
