Lots of white space[edit]

There is a huge amount of white space before the first table. That's why some reformatting needs to be done. I don't see any problem with having the daily standings precede the final results (after all, that's a more chronological approach).Anythingyouwant (talk) 16:17, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is three fold:
  • The layout will be different to the other Olympics and other classes. This might confuse the reader.
  • For me personal, who is working on the pages on a daily basis trying to get the series finished from 1900 till 2008 and beyond. it triggers me every time when i hit the page, for comparing reasons, and get the feeling that a mayor change is applied.
  • Finally when i view the page on a 15" traditional screen it looks good. Also on a 22" wide screen there is no issue. Also on a IPad no issue. Is this a mobile phone thing?
So for the time being (at least till the series is completed includer 2008) I like to maintain this layout. Thanks for your cooperation.
Also I Like to add that the daily standings is information while the results is the data. I normally view the data first.NED33 (talk) 17:40, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'm using an iPhone. The first table doesn't start until after the little "Sailing at the 1980 Summer Olympics" box, so there's lots of white space before the first table that makes the article look defective. I don't want to interfere with your excellent work, and therefore I hope you will consider how this problem can be fixed. Thank you for discussing this problem here. If you would like me to see whether this problem exists at any other articles, you can leave the wiki inks here. Cheers.Anythingyouwant (talk) 17:50, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Please let me know it the problem occurs in other pages, but please understand that I will start to change things as soon as the series is basiccaly done and I start to polish them.
P.S. Is there a specific reason why you were looking at the 1980 Finn page?NED33 (talk) 18:22, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
P.S.2 You can start on Sailing at the Summer Olympics And work your way down:-).NED33 (talk) 18:24, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I was editing an article about a Cuban sailor named Alberto Gallardo Alvarez and that brought me here. The article Sailing at the Summer Olympics looks fine.  :-)Anythingyouwant (talk) 18:38, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Great some friends of mine sailed also the Finn there: Jose Luis Doreste (ESP), Mihai Butucaru (ROM), Mark Neeleman (NED) and Jochen Schümann (then DDR).You know this guy yourself?NED33 (talk) 19:30, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, I don't know Alvarez. It's just a random article I looked at. But I do love sailing in little boats (sunfish, laser); it's been a long time, and I miss it. Last winter, I tried sea kayaking, and that was probably better exercise than sailing. Cheers.Anythingyouwant (talk) 19:56, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
