Anyone any idea what the Scottish Home Department was? If you click on this Hansard reference, you'll see that it was distinct from the "Office of the Secretary of State for Scotland".--ML5 (talk) 21:32, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The Scottish Home Department was one of several separate departments (eg Scottish Education Department) which came together to form the Scottish Office, although individual Departmental identities remained for a long time. Latterly it became part of the Scottish Office Home & Health Department, then the Scottish Executive Justice Department, and now dispersed into several Directorates.--George Burgess (talk) 22:38, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that. Do you have any kind of reference you could put into the Scottish Office history section?--ML5 (talk) 07:13, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
