It seems to me we could have a much better pages pulling togther all the features of Shipka on one page rather than on scattered and unrelated pages. Perhaps Shipka (village) is not the best name for the page, perhaps a better name could be found?Harrypotter 16:09, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

merger[edit]

I agree. I was in Shipka in 1996, in the village (which was not very interesting) and then hiked up to the pass. Really, the monument and the pass (and the battle, which ought to be separate, as it is) seems to be of the most historical and cultural significance.Danevt 04:34, 30 May 2007 (UTC)DanEVT[reply]

I agree as well. The area is not big enough to warrant several articles. Blahblah5555 04:28, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Split article?[edit]

The article has been expanded in the last 2 years, and now seems too unwieldy in attempting to cover both the "town" of Shipka (both Lonely Planet and the Rough Guide call it a village) and the rather more notable Shipka Pass:

  • It has two infoboxes, one for Bulgarian towns, one for mountain passes
  • the pass is actually 13 km from the town/village
  • all other Bulgarian passes named for nearby places have their own articles

My proposal is to have two articles, one for Shipka Pass (which would include the Shipka Memorial, which is very near the pass), and one for the town (which would include the Memorial Church in the town). Any objections? Mhockey (talk) 11:14, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead! Shipka is a town (grad) under Bulgarian law, though one of the smallest. Preslav (talk) 12:52, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No objections. I don't know who performed the merger, but the content is more than enough for two separate articles. --Laveol T 20:21, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
