First, I will acknowledge that the leading dependent clause is a perfectly valid grammatical form. However, they are a pet peeve of mine.

Effective mass: I think that Shubnikov-De Haas effect allows to measure directly the cyclotron mass. The effective mass can be derived indirectly and under hypothesis. --EMajor (talk) 12:18, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning effective mass, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effective_mass#Experimental_determination

If you look at that, what's directly measured is the cyclotron frequency. From this you can calculate effective mass. If you think it would be more accurate, we could edit the article to say "determine the effective mass" rather than "measure the effective mass."
