Colony dynamics[edit]

The article included a brief description of habitat, however, I would have liked to know more about the actual dynamics of the colonies once established. (Akinjenn (talk) 22:01, 11 September 2014 (UTC))[reply]

Interactions[edit]

While the article does well in specifying the roles of the different ants in the nests, there doesn't seem to be enough discussion on how these individuals communicate with each other whether to cooperate in finding resources or in finding a mate. Furthermore, interactions between this species of ant and other species (such as predators or prey) would be useful to best understand their niche within their environment. Suggestions[edit]

The article featuring Solenopsis molesta was straightforward and easy to read for individuals lacking scientific backgrounds, which were significant strengths of the article. However, it was not very comprehensive, lacking sections on sex selection, group behavior, and development. It is important for readers to understand the nuances of reproduction and sex selection within this species to gain insight into the ways that genes are passed down and the colony continues to survive. Thus a section on reproduction and sex selection should be included. In addition, there should also be a section on group behavior so that we can better understand how Solenopsis molesta’s unique group behaviors impact colony success. Lastly, information on the lifecycle development should be added to give readers a more wholistic understanding of the species. Furthermore, the article did contain many strengths, namely the sections on habitat and diet, which provided greater background information.Mmc7777 (talk) 04:36, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
