Demographic discrepancy[edit]

The article states that 0.96% of Somersworth's 11,477 people are Asian, yet I have a source that claims 1,500 Indonesian Americans live in this town. I added a link to the article regarding this Indonesian community, yet these numbers need to be reconciled, as 1,500 out of 11,477 makes the Asian population a minimum of 13% of the town. ~ 65.23.129.243 (talk) 20:32, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The source cited for this data is Raude Raychel, the head organizer for "Jakarta Fair". This is not a reliable source for demographic data. WP:USCITIES states "The US Census should be the primary source of demographic data." Magnolia677 (talk) 20:40, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've updated the Census Bureau figures to the 2010 census. There has been a notable increase in the numbers of the Asian community, split between Asian Indian and "Other Asian", but nowhere near 1,500. The 2011-2015 American Community Survey estimate shows continued increase (to c.329 Indian and c.258 other Asian), but not enough to add to the article, since the margins of error are wide. --Ken Gallager (talk) 12:42, 13 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The 2020 Census redistricting data shows 871 people identifying as "Asian alone", which is 7.3% of the total population. The breakdown within Asian should be coming out later this month. Ken Gallager (talk) 14:23, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
