Its coming, SRS Cinema has it though they haven't given any details as to format, DVD? Blu-ray? Download? Their web site just says pre-order sometime September 2022 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.169.10.69 (talk) 19:45, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's out now, of course, and the details are in Space Monster Wangmagwi#Release.

157,000 extras?[edit]

Having recently watched the film (paying particular attention to how many extras were on the screen!) I find it extremely unlikely that this film has 157,000 extras. Yes, Robertson (1980) corroborates that figure, but only in passing. Is there a better source for this information? I'll be marking it as dubious for now. Plot?[edit]

The current text of the plot section is just the marketing blurb from SRS Cinema's store page. This is obviously not acceptable, and it'll need to be completely replaced. That said, I'm not really certain what the appropriate way to describe the plot would be. After-all, the film is mainly just a collection of comedy skits, none of which have much to do with the main overarching plotline. Should we just skip these to explain only what happens with the monster conflict? If so, there's not too much to write. HumbleSolipsist1 (talk) 05:53, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I decided to write a plot synopsis and include a sub-heading for the sketches. On rewatching, there aren't as many as I'd remembered there being... Turns out the reason there's not much to write plot-wise is because most of the film's runtime is the monster stomping around &/or people running away. It feels silly to include those 3 minor sketches in their own section, but tbh that's about as substantial as the film is. Any opinions on how it could be better written?

Opening theaters[edit]

it would be good if someone who can read Korean text could double check that Space Monster Wangmagwi opened in both the Daehan and Segi theaters. I am pretty sure this is correct, but I had to rely on Google translate, which can be iffy. HumbleSolipsist1 (talk) 12:05, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Themes: South Korea as a young country[edit]

Sueng-hoon Jeong (2022) made repeated mention of his belief that various things in the film were metaphorical for South Korea's status as a young/immature country. He seemed to think it was one of the more major themes of the film. I did not include this in #Themes, not because I didn't think it was important, but because I didn't really understand. I'm not comfortable in my ability to use my own words to appropriately summarize things I don't understand, so if someone else who has listened to the commentary is confident that they can summarize his points well, please do so.
