Concern on suggestions about "English Speaking" armies and the duties of a Hauptmann and Stabshauptmann[edit]

I noted the reference to "Warrant officers" in the "English Speaking" armies.

I am not an expert on the subject, however, there are really serious differences between the most obvious (though "unofficially") English-speaking army - the US Army, and those that are more "clearly" descended from the British/English army.

In the USA, a "Warrant Officer" is a completely separate kind of soldier - neither "enlisted (or in England "other ranks")" or officers.

In the UK & Australia and so on, a "Warrant Officer" as I understand it, is a senior NCO - it's a kind of technical term for a "sergeant major" sort of rank. This means that it is not clear what the author of this comment is trying to say. That is obviously a separate question from whether it is true or not, which I believe has to be questioned - it certainly seems like a very strange suggestion that anyone who was a "captain" - an officer of some kind, is reduced in stature to a non-officer via being promoted - however I am certainly no expert in matters of the Bundeswehr!
