Birthplace

Tucci's birthplace is listed here as Katonah, NY while IMDB lists Peekskill, NY. They seem to be two small towns 15 miles from each other, but does anyone have an authoritative source? --DynSkeet 21:44, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  • Peekskil is a city. Katonah is a hamlet (i.e., no legal status). Tucci does not have hae an official site. --Nelson Ricardo 19:15, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

Get a picture.

Is he bald or does he shave his head? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 20.7.131.95 (talk) 15:10, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Picture

It's nice to have a picture of Mr. Tucci, but wouldn't it be even nicer if we could actually see him? CatBoris (talk) 15:20, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

We could get a nice headshot from his publicity department, but that would involve using a fair use image, which is against the GNU principles of Wikipedia. - 38.97.106.165 (talk) 20:22, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Age

His infobox shows his age as 48.0000000000000000. Anyone have any idea why this is? =David(talk)(contribs) 06:09, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Birth date

HuffPo does have some professional journalistic content, but most of it is WP:SPS — amateur writers, and in some cases professionals, writing for free and saying what they want with no or minimal editorial oversight. The columns by acknowledged experts are one thing, but an anonymous "Today's birthdays" column with unknown if any editorial vetting is hardly WP:RS.

In any event, sources differ as to his birth date. I suppose we could have a string of competing footnotes, as was eventually done here, at Demi Moore, after literally months of wrangling at Talk:Demi Moore/Archive 1#Birth Name: Demetria - Credible Sources and References and Talk:Demi Moore/Archive 2. Or we could use a single source that says "sources differ." I'll look around to see if I can get a list of competing sources in the meantime, so we have a broader factual grounding. --Tenebrae (talk) 00:08, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

  • Fox News just takes what Wikipedia says (the article lead from before it was trimmed today, plus "Read More at Wikipedia ›"). Same with Newsday. That's troubling, by the way, to see a newspaper using Wikipedia as a source.

(Incidentally, on a separate topic, I found a cite for Joseph Tropiano being his cousin: Big Night: A Novel with Recipes by Joseph Tropiano! Introduction, p.1

So, yeah, it certainly looks like a variety of reliable sources differ as to his birth date. I'm finding the same thing about his birth place. Maybe the public-records database part of FamilyTreeLegends.com has his birth record. I'll try that now.

--Tenebrae (talk) 00:30, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

I guess New York must not make them available — the only "Stanley Tucci"s that came up were two death records, and searching under just "Tucci" brought up a list of things but nothing from New York State. --Tenebrae (talk) 00:52, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
This New York Times bio lists his birth date as November 11, 1960 (although I don't know how well the bio pages on the NYT are curated). I also found this Chicago Tribune photo gallery (but perhaps birthday photo galleries aren't the most definitive...but still, the Chicago Tribune). Safehaven86 (talk) 01:36, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Hi, Safe. That actually isn't The New York Times — that's the AllMovie link I have above. The Times contracts out for its movie database. What I've found above is that AllMusic and AllMovie, which are both part of Rovi, each have different birthdates!
I'm with you on Chicago Tribune being an RS.
Ultimately, it looks as if sources are varying because he's been as secretive about his birthplace and birth date as he's been about his marriage — he finally said today that he and actress Emily Blunt's sister are married, though it evidently happened months ago. I see a pattern. --Tenebrae (talk) 02:15, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Ha, I didn't realize NYT contracted out. That's funny that the databases contradict each other. Considering all of the contradicting sources, maybe we should just leave the page the way it is? Unless we want to use the Tribune to trump the variety of other sources. What do you think? Safehaven86 (talk) 14:13, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
I'm sorry I hadn't noticed your Aug. 9 note but the fact remains, as documented above, that major reliable sources giver differing birth dates, which FilmReference.com notes as well. I suspect Tucci has given differing birth dates to throw people off the trail since he's notoriously private, but whatever the reason choosing one over the other arbitrarily is POV. The Chicago Tribune is certainly an RS as are People and Us, which give one date but so are Playbill, Broadway.com and Canada's Tribune corporation, which give another. All we can do is acknowledge, as FilmReferene.com does, that these conflicting dates exist and let the reader judge from that as he will. --Tenebrae (talk) 19:37, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

And kudos to All Hallow's Wraith for finding a public-records cite! --Tenebrae (talk) 21:34, 22 November 2014 (UTC)

Brother-in-law

Currently the infobox shows John Krasinski as Tucci's brother-in-law. I don't think that's correct. You're sister-in-law's husband is not called your brother-in-law. Ordinary Person (talk) 23:29, 27 August 2021 (UTC)

On meeting Blunt

In a Vanity Fair interview (2021) Emily Blunt claimed she did not introduce Tucci tobher sister, nevermind having the intent for them to meet. They were simply both guests at Emily's wedding to John Krazinsky and happened to find each other. Arcsoda (talk) 11:02, 5 October 2021 (UTC)
