This article was created in the framework of ZHAW translation projects 2021 in cooperation with Wikimedia CH.

Challenges[edit]

The first challenge is to find and write more information about the Stapferhaus. The source text doesn't have much information, which makes it difficult to get a picture of what the Stpaferhaus exactly is.

This task will involve a search for parallel texts and background information. The award they received this year might be a good place to start. Chasa73a (talk) 20:55, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I did what you suggested and looked at parallel texts such as the Kunsthaus Zürich, the Kunstmuseum Basel and even the Swiss Architecture Museum. The Swiss Architecture Museum sometimes was a better help since the Kunsthaus Zürich and the Kunstmuseum in Basel are much bigger museums than the Stapferhaus. --Nuva13 (talk) 15:53, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Another difficulty is to replace some parts of the source text, since the information is not always on the homepage of the Stapferhaus and doesn't have a source, it will be replaced by information that is actually available on the homepage of the Stapferhaus.

I decided to use mainly the homepage of the Stapferhaus since it provided the information needed for the article. I also used a source, which was already in the ST. I did change some parts of the text and added either more information or new information to the article. I replaced a lot of the first part from the ST because I think more information was needed to understand what kind of museum the Stapferhaus is. --Nuva13 (talk) 15:53, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A third challenge is to make sense of the whole text. That means the challenge will be to keep continuity through all the new information and to structure it well so that the text makes sense.

The problem was to write the right information so the article would be understandable and make sense. I tried to keep continuity throughout the whole article. The last challenge is to link all the information and to insert hyperlinks, for example for the foundations. As well as to indicate the sources of where the information was found.

Again, this is a problem in all texts written for Wikipedia. What specific issues might there be for this ST with respect to finding appropriate hyperlinks and sources for an English target audience?

The problem here was to find sources the provide the information also in English. I was not able to find all the information in English since there are a lot of people and subjects listed that are from Switzerland or that only exist in Switzerland. Therefore, many sources are only available in German or French. My solution here was to still link the source even if it is in German, therefore the reader can still see where the information comes from. In addition, sometimes Wikipedia did not find the links to several subjects from the article. When searching them on Google, however, I still got the results of Wikipedia articles. In this case, I copied the link and used it as an external link. There were also some subjects, where I did not find a source yet. There was also a new problem that came up. I tried to link the ISBN numbers. Unfortunately, it did not work for my article, I tried it several times. I will try to contact someone who can help me, so I can solve the problem. --Nuva13 (talk) 15:54, 1 December 2021 (UTC)-[reply]

Feedback

I've already made some grammatical corrections in the TT. I am still not so sure about some prepositions, especially the ones talking about the castle of Lenzburg (e.g. at the castle). Maybe take another look at those. (I can be wrong too of course!)

I also went to the Stapferhaus webpage in English to look at some of their expositions and how they translated the titles. Fake for example was Fake and the office for the whole truth (not sure why, but that’s what I found), so maybe compare your translations with theirs.

I would also change the font of the exposition names to cursive. Also, not sure about the quotation marks an whether they’re necessary.

If you’d like to, you could add a picture of the Stapferhaus like in the ST. As also mentioned in the article, it is a very interesting building.

Lastly, as Peter also explained in his video, change the external links to the red ones or simply do not use any. Maybe add some more information to Sybille Lichtensteiger and some categories.

Other than that I really like your TT. It does feel like reading an original Wikipedia article and you made some good cultural adaptions. ZoraLana (talk) 15:46, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
