Open questions[edit]

  • Which artist designed the sculpture? Ferdinand von Miller II or some other sculptor? (His foundry worked for many artists.)
  • According to the image categorisation in Wikimedia Commons, it would have been made in the foundry of Ferdinand Freiherr von Miller (aka. Ferdinand von Miller II). Is that correct? (At that time, his father, Ferdinand von Miller, would also still have been alive.)
  • Was the statue merely “removed” (to some museum or other storage location) in 2020, as the article says? Or was it completely destroyed? (If so, by whom? By protesters or by authorities?)

By the way, the Alexander von Humboldt statue in the Missouri Botanical Gardens is said to be a work by the father. So, St. Louis would have at least two works from their foundry. -- Martinus KE (talk) 12:01, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
