"non-profit"?[edit]

Filing status "non-profit"? Citation on this? I find nothing online to corroborate this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.3.68.116 (talk) 14:56, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It isn't. Widdershins, INC is a for-profit company. TheOwlHerself (talk) 16:04, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Pseudonym's of Former Event Runners[edit]

(Captain) Jack Manx and Erin Tierniegh/Whisper Merlot are the pseudonyms of Brandon Kelly and Kristin Lavalle, respectively. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.105.0.96 (talk) 05:06, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Provide a reliable reference and that can go into the article. Holzman-Tweed (talk) 15:57, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I saw this edit by the last user and, yeah, Whisper and "Cap" aren't their real names. It's Brandon Kelly and Kristin Lavalle. I've been in the Steampunk scene in MA for years, and I know their real names.

Please review WP:V, WP:BLP, WP:SOURCES, and WP:NOR. You still need a reliable reference in order to put contentious information about living people into an article. Holzman-Tweed (talk) 04:08, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because it documents a significant and notable Steampunk convention, identifying the organizations that produce it and documenting its history, without making statements advertising future events. I freely acknowledge there is room for improvement and will be happy to participate in that effort. By way of comparison, the article follows the model for Science Fiction Convention Lunacon, and has secondary sources the Lunacon article lacks, however the Lunacon article is flagged for improvement, not speedy deletion. I think some consistency in editorial policy is appropriate. --Holzman-Tweed (talk) 19:15, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The long guests list appeared to be promotional. Such lists are certainly not encyclopedic. I've removed the guest list and the advert tag, but I am still concerned that this event does not meet the general notability guideline. If there was more coverage in reliable sources, especially non-local ones, then please add such sources as references or temporarily under a new "further reading" section so notability can be clearly seen by other editors. Thanks. Yworo (talk) 20:35, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I will continue adding references and further reading articles as I find and vet them. One factor adding to the turnaround time is determining whether a given online source is reliable. Holzman-Tweed (talk) 16:11, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Potential COI disclosure in Beyond Victoriana reference[edit]

My review of the 2011 SPWF is one of those collected in Convention Extravaganza: Steampunk World's Fair II. However, I have not relied on anything I wrote for citation purposes. Specifically, the article documents the dates and location of the second fair using information included by Diana Pho. Holzman-Tweed (talk) 16:11, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lead section[edit]

There is a lot of information in the lead section which is neither supported by citation or by subsequent text and citations in the article body. The lead is supposed to summarize the content of the article body. It should not have information in it which is not discussed in the body of the article. Either the article body needs to be expanded to support the summary in the lead, or material in the lead which is not in the article should either be removed or moved to the article body. The lead also seems to be overly essay-like. Yworo (talk) 21:02, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
