The process[edit]

If the traditional route of going straight into a Nursing Program out of high school is not taken, there is also other ways to get accepted later down the line. Almost all programs at accredited Universities ask for a list of prerequisite’s to be completed with grades above a “C”in those courses. Attaining an Associate's Degree in any field that has to do with sciences and healthcare at a local community college would be beneficial in the process to getting entry level experience. ^[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dngrayson1296 (talk • contribs) 18:41, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Student nurse vs Nursing student[edit]

This may be a contentious issue, and I apologize in advance if this has been discussed in another place that I have been unable to locate thus far. It appears from a quick review of literature, including the Nursing Practice Act in Texas where I live, that nursing student is the formal term, and student nurse is the casual term. This was also addressed in this post that ANA is requesting that states revise their Nurse Practice Acts to restrict the term nurse to licensed individuals only. I realize that using the ANA position may result in Americentrism which I do not wish in any way; rather, I am bringing this up for discussion if it has not been thus far. I know there are also forum posts on allnurses.com where students said they were requested by nursing school faculty to use SN, for Student Nurse, after their name when charting. The Royal College of Nursing uses both student nurse and nursing student on the same page, for another reference point.
