Languages[edit]

Coming to America/Zabibah...[edit]

After the release of the new trailer it's quite obvious this movie is a lot closer to Coming to America than Zabibah and the King. Foreign-language sources[edit]

Actually, the link to the relevant guideline is WP:NOENG, not "WP:NOTENGLISH". For the English-language Wikipedia, when quoting a source in a different language, we must provide both the original-language quotation and an English translation. Please see guideline. I've asked User:Niemti, who has only been on Wikipedia since March and already has a history of edit-warring and of warnings of impending blocks, to discuss the above on this page. He has refused to do so and is edit-warring here. There is no rationale for NOT translating a Spanish-language source in English-language Wikipedia. You're just making artifictial problems, all the time.

No, we do NOT have to "provide both the original-language quotation and an English translation". Not at all. And it's just another case of people completely misunderstanding Wikipedia guidelines. I wish everyone stopped doing that.

And machine translations are usually very easy to turn into gramatically correct sentences. There too.

Dear Wikipedia, 'Censorship' chapter of the article claims that 'The Dictator' is banned, amongst other countries, in Azerbaijan. This is an error, as 'The Dictator' is displayed at several cinemas in the capital, Baku. I have just returned from Azerbaijan and can verify that I watched the film there. Please see the link of the cinema-house 'Park Cinema' with the film's billboard and show times. Please remove Azerbaijan from the list of the countries that banned the film. Why didn't Cohen arrive with female bodyguards in other countries?[edit]

We need them :-). This info - and answer should be written there. Also the cast lacks info about the girls. And - in banned sections - is confirmed that this film is NOT banned in North Korea, Cuba, or U.S. military bases? Would be really strange...(okay maybe English speaking North Koreans can look as a "non possible", but as far as I known the citizens of this states speak at least basic English, French, Russian...

Technically yes - from Western pov (however with exemptions). The e.g. ex official communist block films were not banned, but the distance made that only from official sources films were available. And of course there weren't lot of TV. As far as I known it is little changing with increasing number of computers, and loose the rules. Ok maybe there were not a lot of radios in home, but when they allowed e.g. mobile phones for a moment it increased dramatically. Many of computers are now in official bureaus and workplaces The tv number is also increasing, with affordable(~half of the month pay 5$ or 10 month pays) cheap low cost dvd players(like everywhere in Asia), and dvds can be produced in China for less than 0.5 $. The us bases and USA govt. policy is not like in freedom countries similar to Swiss or Sweden(check human rights reports) - e.g. banning all stuff, even like Wikileaks soft material (so called "war diary", without surnames).   • Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. -- The source doesn't discuss censorship. It only says some screenings were cancelled, and that the cancellation was reportedly due to technical problems. To claim that this source talks about censorship is original research as it is a deduction that you have made from the source, not something stated in the source itself; that would constitute synthesis. Geographical location[edit]

There is a website for Wadiya based on the movie which provides a picture of the map seen on the film. Wadiya isn't located in Eritrea, which is more northern and has Yemen next to it. Wadiya is actually located in Nortern Somalia. Here is a link to the picture from the website (this is part of the the official "The Dictator" website). http://www.republicofwadiya.com/invest.php . Should this be amended?

This can be double checked but Djibouti, a very small country, is to the south of Eritrea, in between Eritrea and Somalia. Judging by this map Wadiya has to be in Northern Somalia. The map on the website linked above is not the same as the one shown in the film, on which the location of Wadiya perfectly matches that of Eritrea (they simply changed the label). Hatnote[edit]

What is the purpose or use of having The Great Dictator as the hatnote? Surely this is a navigational problem not a problem with ambiguity. If you end up on The Dictator (2012 film) while looking for The Great Dictator it is because you have typed "Dictator 2012" or "The Dictator 2012" film alone.
