Size and development[edit]

I haven't had any luck finding out the total area of the Jungle in square miles, but that's a detail that should be in the article – even a rough estimate would be better than nothing. Also, if that one sentence on the Jungle's future development could be expanded – such as with this Crosscut piece – we could devote a new section to what the future bodes for the park, rather than address that aspect as part of the Jungle's history.—Biosketch (talk) 04:33, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the source! I also was not able to find numbers on its size but will keep on looking since that is a good idea. I have put the future development line into its own section. It will probably be reworked into history once the work is complete. I agree it could use some more info, though. The only thing I saw off with the source was that it did not mention if the sweeps were reintroduced after the suspension (I was under the impression that they were but could be wrong) but it does offer some good detail that would be useful in the article. This real estate blog gives "100 acres" as the Jungle's area. It looks credible enough to me, although the language of the blog does cross the line into hyperbole on occasion, e.g. "Dead bodies are found there all the time." I think it's good enough for WP:V, though.—Biosketch (talk) 04:08, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wow. The 100 acres is actually mentioned in the radio piece. Sweet.Cptnono (talk) 23:49, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Did you see this?—Biosketch (talk) 13:38, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I did! The guy actually put up the transcript of the radio segment at the bottom. Nice save dude.Cptnono (talk) 05:03, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Jungle (Seattle)East Duwamish Greenbelt – The name of the park is *East Duwamish Greenbelt*. *The Jungle* refers to the homeless camps withing the park. c36b9 (talk) 06:13, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose The article is about the homeless encampment, and the name is far more commonly used in local media. The park article can simply redirect here. SounderBruce 06:31, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"The Jungle's given name is the East Duwamish Greenbelt, but no one calls it that." That is what the source says.2601:601:CE7F:E270:7008:3A22:9358:7ACD (talk) 08:26, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
