A comment by Emma[edit]

***** I am not the original writer of the rest of this "commentary". I would suggest that readers do their research elsewhere as this is plainly and obviously written by someone who has no belief in such things. I am by no means a religious "fanatic", but I firmly believe in a fair and ACCURATE description if someone is going to put information in Wikipedia. I in fact, have seen MUCH misinformation on many topics in "Wiki" written either by the ignorant, the antagonistic or someone simply wanting to "have fun" messing with history and facts.

I notice for example, that the writer states that completely fictional characters where created in this book about Bernadette Soubirious, BUT the writer NEVER states who these fictional characters are. If someone is going to take it upon themselves to write, in what too many people consider, a reliable source, that person should have the FACTS to back up what they say rather than making a blanket statement and showing no proof of it's accuracy.***** - Emma

Did the Novel Have Any Effect on Werfel's Religious Views?[edit]

Did Werfel ever embrace the Catholic faith or at least become a Christian?

Christian Burial?[edit]

It is said that Werfel died in 1945, and that he was given a "Christian burial" by the "Cardinal" Archbishop of Los Angeles. There is just one problem with that scenario. In 1945, the Archbishop of Los Angeles was not a Cardinal. The first Cardinal Archbishop of Los Angeles was Timothy Manning, and he did not receive the red hat until 1953.

Explanation for Edits[edit]

I have introduced edits that show the depth of feeling and strength of character Werfel gave Bernadette. She was neither willful nor a fighter. She just radiated love, and the people around her supplied the action, conflict, and drama. DrWJK (talk) 20:30, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The play does not appear to meet WP:GNG yet, with only routine pre-release coverage available, and should probably be merged into a section of this article (which should be moved to The Song of Bernadette) pending more significant coverage. signed, Rosguill talk 22:08, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Support merge, although selectively. We don't need cast lists of readings and workshops. Only notable casts should be included. If and when this becomes notable, this could be resurrected.Onel5969 TT me 12:53, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Edits[edit]

I've had two good added links reverted and hesitate to put them back in because they are new, can someone explain why these were reverted? Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 13:32, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Randy Kryn: I did that just to say hello, I’ve since undone the remaining reverts that you didn’t fix yourself. So can you help me build the infobox? All the parameters are there in the source code, now it would be just adding the rest of the data, thanks. 98.36.149.201 (talk) 19:02, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, that's me not assuming good faith. Only one is needed if that. I'll take a look at the infobox but before I do have to say that I'm one of the non-infobox people here, so haven't really worked on many of them except to edit captions or italics or adding a painting. Will take a look now, you've done some good infoboxes, I've never designed one. Randy Kryn (talk) 23:43, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Have added the author and the subject, and it looks pretty good as a short intro to the page. Most of the other slots I can't make hide nor hare of, and would make mistakes in filling them in. Randy Kryn (talk) 23:51, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
