Untitled[edit]

I think there is a fault in the plot description Should not this passage: 'which he will do by cutting his 2 daughters, 2 of his 3 stepdaughters and his 2 nieces up' actually read something like: which he will do by cutting up: one of his 2 daughters; all 3 of his stepdaughters; and his 2 nieces' You have the plot say that one of the painter's stepdaughters gets to live because his daughter is not a virgin. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.219.18.82 (talk) 11:08, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And perhaps, but the description would be incomplete without it, and I don't explain the method very well. To be fair, it wasn't so much a murder method (I omit the fairly clever explanation of Heikichi Umezawa's death, for example) as it was a sleight of hand, and I simply couldn't resist. --Gwern (contribs) 21:57 27 March 2008 (GMT)

Wikipedia is not an official site for mystery novel fans, so the ending should not be revealed. You wouldn't give away the endings of movies like "Sleuth" or "Seven," would you? If you were the author of this work, you would want save the ending for the reader. Also, your description about the murder cannot be clearly explained without some sort of diagram. I hope you understand that the trick is a crucial part of the novel that should not be revealed. Umbrimbc 23:20, 25 February 2009 (UTC-8)

Wikipedia is not some official mystery site, yes, but that has absolutely nothing to do with this article. Wikipedia has no policy saying that endings are not supposed to be revealed. And actually, we have a guideline on just this topic: Wikipedia:Spoiler. Let's read it together: "It is not acceptable to delete information from an article because you think it spoils the plot."
