  • Thomas PockThomas Pöck —(Discuss)— The diacritc makes a big difference in the pronunciation of his name, changing the sound from "pok" to "poak." The page Thomas Pöck is currently being used as a redirect to Thomas PockbmitchelfT 22:28, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Survey[edit]

Add  * '''Support'''  or  * '''Oppose'''  on a new line followed by a brief explanation, then sign your opinion using ~~~~.
  • Support Correct name is Pöck.--Húsönd 03:39, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. An encyclopedia should use the correct name instead of the diacritic-less simplification of other media. -- Evv 03:57, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support The more accurate spelling. Bendono 15:04, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong Oppose: we should use the spelling actually used in English. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 17:57, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong support. Or let's move Charlotte Brontë to Charlotte Bronte or John C. Frémont to John C. Fremont. Švitrigaila 18:31, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - the matter has been (endlessly) discussed with English spellings and minor diacretics, and consensus is to allow them (e.g., Hugo Chávez). Patstuarttalk|edits 20:54, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

Add any additional comments:
  • The player's name is PÖCK, not POCK. I once redirected the article to PÖCK - why has this changed again??????? Man77 18:47, 6 November 2006 (UTC) -- a past comment[reply]
    • This should be indicated wherever the article is placed - most of our readers will not know how ő is pronounced. Once that is done, this is no reason to move. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 17:57, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The next step?[edit]

ALl Euro/French Canadian NHL bio article titles, should be in sync (with diacritics OR not). For that matter ALL bio article titles period. These inconsistancies, no doubt will lead to an Arbitration Committee ruling. GoodDay 23:13, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
