Tremont does not mean "three mountains" in French. It used to mean "three moutains" only in Western French dialects trei monts. The French word is trois, not trei. I do not think that, so late, a dialectal expression would have been given to an "official" foundation. It is probably to remember one of the French Trémont (which one ?). They can be explained sometimes as "three mountains" as well as "beyond the mountain" (Latin trans > Old French tres, tré). Nortmannus (talk) 16:20, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
