Move to Delete[edit]

The entire article reads like the credits of the trailer and offers no information on the film other than a PR synopsis.--Burlyguy 18:00, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

True, but since the movie hasn't come out yet, most users can't add a lot of information. I think we should expand rather than delete. -Elizabennet 17:45, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PR Synopsis? What the fuck that means? Is there something wrong with Power Rangers, now?

PR means Public Relations, basically their marketing department came up with the synopsis.CharlieP216 18:53, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So what does that have to do with anything?74.195.3.11 16:59, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mark Cuban/Marc Cuban[edit]

In the main body of the article it lists a "Marc Cuban" as executive producer, but in the sidebar it has "Mark Cuban". If it's Mark Cuban, is it the same Mark Cuban the name is linked to?--DavidFuzznut 03:02, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

on imdb.com it lists Mark Cuban as a producer (as well as Marc Butan). I don't know if its the same Mark Cuban that its linked to, sorry. -Elizabennet 04:24, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Synopsis[edit]

I added more to the detailed synopsis, drawing heavily upon what's in the "About" section of the Turistas site (at foxatomic). I'm pretty sure that's ok, since I didn't just cut and paste huge sections of text, but please let me know if I'm wrong! I'd expand it further, but I haven't seen the film and so don't know what happens.  :) -Elizabennet 04:58, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It wouldn't have matter anyway, Z, I was gonna spoil it tomorrow night. Sort of like I did with Wrong Turn 2.74.195.3.11 17:00, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Go Home?[edit]

Everytime i hear or see this movie being mentioned, it reads... "Turistas Go Home". What is this? Are they haveing copyright problems & changed it or is it just a badly placed tagline? 69.250.130.215 20:08, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The movie's tagline is "Go home." So... its just a badly placed tagline.  :) -Elizabennet 04:31, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Repercussions section[edit]

OK, I've noticed that there's a bit of an edit war going on over the repercussions section. Talk about it here, rather than just doing it and undoing it. I think it looks like something that should be in the article, since it is about a significant response to the film, but if you disagree, please explain why you keep deleting it. Edit wars are not cool. >( -Elizabennet 04:43, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There's no edit war. There are simply editors (logged and after an IP, maybe the same person) that insist to remove the section completely, without arguing in the talk page or even explaining it in the summary. Dantadd 15:33, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't that the definition of an edit war? I think that since you've got it cited, it should definitely stay; if it was just you saying "people in Brazil hate this movie." then it would be appropriate to delete. But that's not the case... so I'd like to hear what their problem with it is!  :) -Elizabennet 18:41, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I got your point, but for me an edit war happens when two or more editors dispute the content of an article or of section of it. Simply removing without any reason is vandalism, not edit war. Dantadd 21:25, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blah-blah-blah.74.195.3.11 14:26, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted the last item of the "repercussion" (which was about 'Turistas 2', a flash cartoon about the movie), and moved it to the External Links session. It is not pertinent to the "repercussion" session (I´ve never heard about this cartoon in the Brazilian media), so it is more approppriate in the 'External Links' session - IF it is approppriate at all (do links of satires comply to the wikipedia movie article's standards?). --Andrev 15:59, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's not pertinent at all-- I personally think that the link was added only to remind people about that, when they point a finger at someone or something, they have three fingers pointing at them. Besides, Charges makes flash animations about almost everything... thus, it's not a big deal. Confusing Text 17:43, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

finally more info[edit]

thank you for who ever actually added a synoposis to the article it took too long. 24.245.36.162 23:06, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, WHAT?74.195.3.11 14:26, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Plot[edit]

I noticed the plot just kinda stops abruptly in the middle of the movie. While it is trying to be spoiler free I guess and you can sum up the other half of the movie pretty easily, I would say that the plot given isn't honestly the plot and should probably be updated. If no one else does it I may have a go at it. Sabalon 03:13, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I came to the article hoping to have the whole story laid out for me so I could decide whether or not to watch it, but all I find here is something one step removed from ad copy. I could understand that if the film hadn't been released yet, but it's what, two years old now? can we PLEASE have a detailled synopsis? 72.67.93.133 (talk) 20:45, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Whenever I look up a movie on Wikipedia i get the full synopsis. This article just has a small preview. what gives? Summguy1 08:29, 08 Auguest 2008 (UTC)

I rewrote the Plot section, and now the story is told in full. Please go easy on me guys. Deep Atlantic Blue (talk) 22:17, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia[edit]

"...due to low structure of the place the movie was moved to Brazil." - What does this even mean? Grammar, people!

Truth about Brazil[edit]

Brazil is not what you see in this movie. Yes we have violence but for social reasons. We aren't psico-killers trying to arrest tourists money and lives. Come on visit us and see what brazilians really are a passionate nation that love to live and smile.

I really hope you're kidding —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.247.244.120 (talk) 21:38, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't worry about that. The American media has a way of skewing the picture of the world into a black-and-white visage - I'm from (let's say so) Eastern Europe, and we get our fair share of condescending treatment in movies as well. I've grown used to it, and the way I see it is, there are Americans that will buy into this BW image, and those aren't really worth bothering with, because they are simpletons; and then there are those that don't buy into it, and go out and see the world for themselves. You can't change the worldview of the first group, in fact, you shouldn't even bother with the cretins; and you don't need to change the worldview of the second group. TomorrowTime (talk) 08:22, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One of the actors in the film (I think it was Andréa Leal) said, and I strongly agree, that we daily see horror movies with a setting everywhere in America, from LA to SF, NYC, etc, without that having any impact on our travel plans. It's an horror movie, people. What did you expect? It gives some exposure to Brazil and that is good. We are not used to watching movies going the international exhibition circuit, not set in some major American city. With the growth of the international movie industry, that may change in the long run. Deep Atlantic Blue (talk) 15:10, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Soundtrack[edit]

May not be noteworthy enough, but, as a Brazilian, I've found the soundtrack somewhat... surprising. It actually has real, popular brazilian music by Marcelo D2 and other artists who I either forgot or didn't recognize. Talk about not watching the whole movie. If someone who has watched the movie can recognize such stuff better than me, please consider adding a section for the soundtrack or something. Confusing Text 17:31, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
