Vigilante films vs Super hero films[edit]

You need to make a longer list or a shorter list. If The Amazing Spider-Man is a vigilante film then so was the Tobey Maguire Trilogy. By this definition all super hero flicks not having hero's sanctioned by some governmental body are vigilante. Man of Steel, X-Men, Daredevil, and ect. The only movie I can think of off hand are the Avengers and related media and honestly you can't say all of them aren't vigilante related due to them being in the Avergers. Ironman 1 and 2, Hulk movies, Thor (first movie) are all pretty much vigilantes by definition.

Now some of the Hero's are obviously vigilantes. Punisher being the most obvious. To call him a superhero is a stretch. Regarding the mythology he is a "good guy" buy chance and really he is an anti-hero.

The point being is that if you aren't going to differentiate the classic vigilante archetype from the superhero Archetype then you should include the whole shabam.198.45.184.25 (talk) 21:07, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's a good thought. We could remove them and perhaps add a note pointing to List of American superhero films in a "See also" section. How does that sound? Erik (talk | contribs) 21:12, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think that is a good idea and if no one objects in a week i'll go ahed and remove the superhero films and add List of American superhero films to the see also section.--Jeffrd10 (talk) 18:28, 18 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion[edit]

This article on the Vigilante film genre is incomplete, and is missing a majority of information on the genre's history which needs to be added to the article with proper citations. The article is mostly composed of an incomplete list of films in this genre, but it gives no history about the genre itself including its origins, the success/explosion of the genre, decline and (if possible) revival. There is more to this genre than an incomplete list of films, hopefully this article gets the attention it needs.--Paleface Jack (talk) 16:31, 21 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The list is almost complete nonsense at this point, grouping together arbitrary examples from a whole bunch of genres. Listing The Wild Bunch, Django, Yojimbo & Robin Hood movies as vigilante films is a real stretch. ωεαşεζǫįδ 20:26, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
