The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Viktor Kingissepp/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

A politician is obviously someone involved in actual politics. Kingissepp wasn't a politician (as his comrades would certainly agree). In Soviet days, he was called a revolutionary, which seems more correct. Or 'resistance fighter', 'terrorist', 'undercover activist', whatever you like. He didn't participate in elections or political debate, his tools were bombs, guns and leaflets. I guess that a revolutionary or insurgent would be politically correct term to use - although strictly speaking, there were no revolution or insurgency going on at that time.
