Misleading information[edit]

To Whom It May Concern, After hearing many rumors about articles online, I decided to search for myself. I have read over the article that you have on Wikipedia about WACQ. I do not understand where you get your information about what is posted on this site. I am disappointed, because I have used this site many times for articles of research that my children have used with school and If you post false information about one, you will post false information about others as well. I happen to know the owner of WACQ/Hughey Communications and I have known him for 30 years of my life. I know that slander is truly running our country when a company as large yours operates off of posting that a small town radio station has been foreclosed on due to current economic conditions. Mr. Hughey has bought and sold many stations over the years and each business move he makes is to either better the station in the Tallassee area or to produce a larger cash flow for he and his wife. The items listed in this article are misleading and allows the public to think that Mr. Hughey has filed bankruptcy, which is not true. I would however like to give some advice for this site, when putting an article out for public display, do not leave the explanations so vague. Wikipedia has no editorial board, and edits are not reviewed before they are visible. With some 50+ being made every minute, this would be a completely impractical task. Instead, Wikipedia relies on readers such as yourself to draw attention to errors or to correct them.

In this case, I see that the information recently added to the WACQ article is not backed up by any references to reliable sources, so there was no way for readers to check the information for themselves. Any editor, you included, may challenge and remove unsourced material. I have removed all mention of foreclosure/financial problems based on your challenge here. -- John of Reading (talk) 20:11, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The 2011 foreclosure described in the article was already properly referenced with reliable sources (like this one) but, yes, the station's current economic woes as described by the licensee in FCC filings were not properly sourced. That has been taken care of and the text restored in a slightly edited form. While the 3 special temporary authority filings were all slightly different, the descriptions by the licensee about the economic conditions besetting the station were all consistent with the example below. - Dravecky (talk) 22:27, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Westburg Broadcasting Montgomery, LLC is filing this request for special temporary authority for WACQ to remain silent because the current economic climate has made it difficult for Westburg Broadcasting to keep WACQ on the air. Westburg Broadcasting became the licensee of WACQ as part of a foreclosure on the station (File No. BAL-20110406AAX). Westburg Broadcasting had tried to continue operations with reduced facilities pursuant to special temporary authority (BSTA-20110122ACF and BESTA-20120113ACE). Even with Westburg Broadcasting assuming operations of WACQ however, the current economic condition combined with the less than successful operation of the station by the previous licensee has left Westburg Broadcasting with no choice but to take the station silent.
