Partial Filmography[edit]

What exactly is Partial Filmography, because my gut says that it means "cameo" or "Partially displayed," I just want to verify --Michaelzeng7 (talk) 21:48, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That it's not a complete list of all his films but only a selected list. Complete lists are preferable in Wikipedia so feel free to complete it in the article. Garion96 (talk) 22:17, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Probable Error in Date and Related Facts[edit]

The article states,

In summer 1966, Will's earlier band, Wead, played a gig in Wellington, Ohio. Appearing on the same bill was Akron-based girl-group The Poor Girls, featuring 17-year-old Chrissie Hynde.

Chrissie Hynde was born 09/07/1951 making her 14 years old in summer 1966. I could find no other reference to the cited concert in Wellington, Ohio, I'm not sure whether the 1966 date is in error (and should be summer 1969), or Chrissie Hynde's cited age of 17 at the time of the concert is incorrect (should be 14-year-old Chrissie Hynde).

I've just signed up as an Editor and this is my first contribution, so I'd appreciate any guidance as to how to handle.Wmcfairhill (talk) 14:34, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. This article has a bad case of unsourced name-dropping. According to this blog: [1] (which can't be used as a source but is good information), the group was formed in 1965 in Akron, but Chrissie Hynde was not a member. I will remove. Fylbecatulous talk 14:47, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
There was a locally successful all-girl group called the "Poor Girls" active from 1965 to 1969 that originated at Firestone High School in Akron, Ohio, the same school that Chrissie Hynde attended. However, she was never a member of that group, though she was friendly with the members and attended many of their performances. My source is a book called Rock 'n' Roll and the Cleveland Connection by Deanna R. Adams, page 161. You can read it on Google Books. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 17:39, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Year of birth – actually 1949?[edit]

Hmmm, his close friend/co-star Katie Leigh posted a tribute to him on Instagram. In the post she says "p.s. he was only 72--don't believe everything you read on IMDB!" I can't find a source to support 1949 but I suppose we should watch out for one. No doubt the Hollywood Reporter or Variety will put it right once they do write ups. --Jkaharper (talk) 17:58, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed to 1949 seeing as there's now a reliable source that reflects it here. --Jkaharper (talk) 18:03, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Brian K. Tyler and Jkaharper: I wonder where the birth date May 21 comes from now. And the source (Adventures in Odyssey) doesn't give the year of birth, but refers to him as 72 years old, as do others (though not considered reliable by Wikipedia standards). Some sources say born in 1939 and refer to him as 82 years old. But who knows where they got their information. I'm happy with 1949 / 72 years old, but I still wonder where May 21 comes from. It comes from the Facebook post from CelebWorx which I just added https://www.facebook.com/1707259862850146/posts/3024692417773544/?d=n Brian K. Tyler (talk) 19:00, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, boy. What to do. Facebook isn't considered reliable for Wikipedia. And not to be print-snobby about it, but I tend to favour the book that's referenced over online sources... and it says Ryan was born in 1939, though it gives no date. With the conflicting online sources ('39 vs. '49), it's not known where any of them got their information from, and none of them seem to rely particularly on diligent fact checking and a reputation for accuracy. My personal course now is to leave the article as is (b. May 21, 1949). Maybe an obit printed in a "newspaper of record" will be found later. Willondon (talk) 20:09, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline is saying 1949 too. [2] It's pretty obvious by now that 1939 is wrong and should be taken out. Nohomersryan (talk) 23:11, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline seems by far the most reliable source we've seen. I changed it back to the 1949 date, added a cite, and put in a comment for editors regarding the issue. signed, Willondon (talk) 00:25, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
