Added content and sources welcomed. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 20:09, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Copy-vios?[edit]

Hi @Diannaa:, Thanks for your review of this article. I am trying to determine which sentence(s) were 'copied' to the extent that they pose copy right concerns. I believe only general statements of fact were added from the sources in question, per WP:FACTSONLY, which states — Facts and ideas cannot be protected by copyright, but creative expression is protected.. Any similarities between the article here and any sources only involves general facts, short phrases, or titles and such, while there is no outright copying of creative or unique expression. Any further light you can shed on matters would be greatly appreciated. My apologies for any issues I may have created. Will do what ever is necessary to correct any issues. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 19:17, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your addition was flagged as a potential copyright issue and was assessed by myself. Here is a link to the report. Click on the iThenticate link to view what was found by the detection service. The content is present both here and here. Both of these are adverts for a lecture held on April 19, 2018. — Diannaa (talk) 22:03, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The items in question are general and simple statements of fact, which can not be copyrighted, per, WP:FACTSONLY. In order for a copyright issue to stand, there must be an appreciable amount of copying, and that which involves unique and creative expression, not just a couple of statements involving general facts. Regardless, I'll reword the statements in question.Thanx for your concern. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 23:57, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well obviously I disagree that the content was "general facts" impossible to re-word or omit. Otherwise I would not have removed the material. Thank you for the re-write. — Diannaa (talk) 13:52, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Diannaa — Okay, not to belabor the issue, but WP policy, as outlined above, says, "Facts and ideas cannot be protected by copyright", whether we consider them as general or not. In any case, just to avoid future issues and such disagreements, I'll make efforts to reword these things, regardless of how simple a given statement of fact may be. Thanks for looking out. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 17:08, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
