William Fyfe personality[edit]

One of the fascinanting tracts of Bill Fyfe's personality is his attribute as a citizen of the world and the fact that he interacts with his students equanimously, despite their race or color, with the same humanitarian view and fair play. He has the gift of inspiring all his students and collaborators with curiosity for all fields of science, not only geology. All his students became very soon his friends. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eladeira (talkcontribs) 01:11, October 29, 2006 (UTC)

– It does not appear obvious that the six-sentence stub delineating the geochemist puts forth his entry's unchallenged claim to WP:PRIMARYTOPIC over three other notables (not to mention the notorious serial killer). Among the five men listed at the dab page, three were disambiguated via middle names, but appear to have been generally referenced as simply "William Fyfe", as is the case with subject, whose full name was William Sefton Fyfe. — Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 21:14, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Are you saying that the serial killer was also known as William Fyfe (referred to as Billy in the article)? If so, that should be the primary topic. If you are not saying this, then the proposal is fine as is. Schwede66 10:07, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The proposal includes "William Fyfe (disambiguation)William Fyfe" so the proposal is indeed to have no primary topic. The serial killer was probably given as another page to support that there is no primary topic. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:56, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Precisely, per Crouch, Swale. In the nomination, I needlessly tied myself in knots, attempting to avoid the use of such terms as eminent, celebrated or renowned so that those terms would not be perceived as applying also to the serial killer, but made it more confusing instead. As for the killer's WP:COMMONNAME, his main title header and the lead sentence use the full triple name, while the second paragraph calls him "Billy". However, he is referenced either as William Patrick Fyfe or as William Fyfe (The Ballad of William Fyfe). —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 04:40, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. No clear primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:36, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
