Is Loftis notable?[edit]

This is a good piece of research....but there are probably 1,000 American missionaries of more importance than Loftis who don't have a wikipedia article. I think several of the statements made in the article give the impression that Loftis had much more importance that he did. He was, after all, a missionary for only 2 months before he died. The publication of his diary makes him marginally notable. The laudatory statements about him are the stuff of overblown epitaphs. Despite 20-plus years of efforts by more than a dozen missionaries, the missionary enterprise in Batang was a failure due to infighting among the missionaries, lack of funds, and lack of success.Smallchief (talk) 01:58, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
