Hook looks slightly long at 376 chars, and also refers to Cavalry Regiments of the British Army, rather than the specific regiment that Childs donated to (4th Hussars) - could this be changed? Otherwise looks good - the hook checks out with the cite (I have the same book so was able to verify it), article is sufficiently long, verifiable and new enough. --Bcp67 (talk) 11:48, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

I'll ask PFLai to make some changes. The cavalry link could go to 4th Queen's Own Hussars per Bcp67. Also this article never says that Joe Childs rode Gainsborough in the Triple Crown, something it really should explicitly say to justify this hook. All that said, this hook is less than 200 characters (nowhere near the 376 that Bcp67 counted.) -SusanLesch (talk) 23:35, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Sorry for the late response. Real life very much in the way these days.

The article is now tweaked to mention Childs as the winning jockey. For the hook, I'd like to avoid showing the word "Hussars" as I want readers on MainPage to click on the link to the DYK article rather than clicking on an unfamiliar word. How about this alt.hook:

ALT1: ...that Joe Childs (pictured) rode Gainsborough to win the British Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing in 1918, and donated his riding fees for the year to a cavalry regiment in the British Army?
