Unexpected John Cena[edit]

John Cena in 2012
John Cena in 2012
  • ... that there is someone who could help a company's struggle in moving to digital media, and his name is John Cena (pictured)?!

  • There is probably a decent April Fool's hook in this article somewhere, but I don't think the above hook qualifies. Certainly, it doesn't seem at all April-Fools-ish to me. Gatoclass (talk) 07:45, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
    • The "and his name is John Cena" part of the hook is a reference to the guy yelling that phrase in videos of the meme. That's were the joke comes in. editorEهեইдအ😎 12:07, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
It means nothing to people like me who are unaware of the meme. Just how well known is this meme, and should we be running a hook that only some people are likely to understand? I note that the phrase isn't even repeated in the article, to help those unfamiliar with the meme to get the joke. Gatoclass (talk) 12:39, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
I've added the phrase in the article. editorEهեইдအ😎 23:43, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
The phrase in the article does not match the phrase in the hook and is unsourced. Gatoclass (talk) 00:00, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
Sourced and matched editorEهեইдအ😎 09:10, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
Better, but I'm still not convinced that we should be running a hook with a point only some people are likely to comprehend. I might have a think and see if can come up with an alternative hook. Gatoclass (talk) 05:40, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
  • A little better, but it's not really an April Fools hook is it? How about:
  • ALT2: ... that WWE wrestler John Cena has stolen the show in Ghostbusters, Breaking Bad and SpongeBob SquarePants? Gatoclass (talk) 14:00, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
    • Hmm, this is pretty good too, but I feel it misses the point of the joke of the meme given that "It's John Cena" is also a phrase to describe the meme (and yes, it is sourced). The DYK can be whatever the DYK reviewers want them to be as they wish. I'm now thinking more:
that someone has stolen the show in films and TV series as diverse as Ghostbusters, Breaking Bad and SpongeBob SquarePants, and his name is John Cena!? editorEهեইдအ😎 21:25, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, but I can't help thinking there may still be some room for improvement. I will need some more time to think about it though. Gatoclass (talk) 04:16, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
  • I haven't come up with an improvement, so I suggest we leave the promoter to choose between ALT2 and ALT3. Still need someone to verify the hooks though. Gatoclass (talk) 04:43, 14 March 2016 (UTC)
    • Date and length fine. ALT3 is along the lines of what I was thinking when I first saw this and is sourced and is what I approve. QPQ done. Image licence fine which is good as we need an image hook for AFD! Though I would recommend removing the visible caption as it makes it more as if Cena has just popped up on the main page rather than being placed there. Good to go for AFD. PERFECT!!!! editorEهեইдအ😎 19:45, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
I AGREE THAT WE SHOULD RUN ALT4 AS THAT IS A BETTER HOOK!!!! The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 21:47, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
@The C of E: so is that a tick for ALT4? SSTflyer 09:27, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
@SSTflyer: Yes it is. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 11:03, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
