Now in other words, how is The makes sense? "The", will refer to that the article has already been selected

I'm no English major, but I do believe it is incorrect grammatically. See the first definition at Wiktionary. It should be rephrased to "Today's featured article has not yet been chosen" to avoid all confusing about articles and modifers and whatnot. It says "The featured article" and then "this day". This allows it to be generic regardless of which day they are talking about, and "the" matches with "this" grammatically given that there is only one FA per day. --Philosopher ^{Let us reason together.} 20:43, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
