Apple.com will not even allow the text of the e-mail exchange to be posted, so I am only posting the e-mails that I sent:

Hi, I am an editor working on Wikipedia, the Free
Encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org). We need to use
some images of the Apple products for some of our
articles, however we cannot make use of any images
unless they are public domain or licensed under the
GNU Free Documentation License
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GFDL).

I was looking at the images listed at
http://www.apple.com/pr/products but I am not sure if
they meet the above criteria. I would appreciate any
help regarding this matter.

thank you

dori

I received a message that said the material is not available as public domain. I sent another e-mail to see if they had any other material available under public domain or that they could license under the GFDL:

What about licensing the images under the GFDL
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GFDL)? Apple would still
retain copyright of the images, but we would be able
to use them in the Wikipedia articles.

Does Apple make any other images of their products
available under public domain (or the above license)?
I would think that any such exposure would be
benefitial to Apple.

thank you,
dori

I received another e-mail saying that they would not license any images under the GFDL.
