Influences on Russian Fairy Tales[edit]

Kids listening to original Russian Fairy Tales

Influences on Russian Fairy tales has been unique and based on complete imagination. “You don't ask questions about a tale,” and this is true for the folktales of all nations. They were not told as fact or history but as a means to entertain the listener, whether he was a child or an adult. Some contain a moral, others seem amoral or even antimoral, Some constitute fables on man's follies and mistakes, others appear pointless." Isaac Bashevis Singer, who was a Polish-American, said this. He was noble prize winner and an extremely literate man. This shows that Russian Fairy tales has been based off complete imagination and has no truth behind it. They were created to give pure entertainment for the reader. [1]

Russian fairy tales have been extremely popular and is still used for plays today. This play called “The Sleeping Beauty “ is still played in New York in the American Ballet Theater and has roots to original Russian fairy tales from 1890. Mr. Ratmansky’s, who has been important to running these plays, used specific dance steps and choreographic details that were part of the works of Russian beginnings.[2]

The influence of Russian Fairy tales has stemmed from pure imagination and entertainment. However, it is fascinating for the audience and is still being used today.
