Bera tower is a historical tower in the small village of Almalaguês parish, the Coimbra district of Portugal. Highlighted by their participation in the competition of the "most Portuguese village in Portugal" in 1938, which won second place.[1]

The village probably dates back to the 10th century.
The place names "Bera Tower" is due to the building of a military watchtower at the time of the Christian Reconquest, near the village of Bera. This, in turn, gave the name to a number of other surrounding villages such as Monte de Bera, Outeiro de Bera Bera and own tower.
Among the twenty-five villages of Almalaguês parish, Bera Tower is best known for being associated with weaving.
In the community stand out the "Instruction Center and Bera Tower Playground", built by the village. In addition, the town have a dedicated "Museum Centre of Bera Tower". The latter faithfully reproduces a typical house Bera Tower in the late nineteenth century.[2]
The ancient watchtower gave its name to the town. The two walls that exist are in poor condition. In 1995m the parish council gave control to the former Portuguese Institute of Architectural Heritage (IPPAR) which however never started any kind of intervention. Withstood major fires that devastated the region in 2005, even threatening the village. In 2009, there was a popular proposal for the implementation of conservation and restoration, but that did not pass.
