All municipalities in PA, photo 1[edit]

You'd written something in October about wanting to get pix of all municipalities in PA. I'd replied that I thought it would be impossible, but ... Now I've got an idea I'd like to discuss, if you want to e-mail me. BTW, I thought Brookhaven, PA would be a good test, so I went looking for something interesting there. The long owed PA 192 history[edit]

Here ya go after 9 months of not doing it:

PA 95 designated on alignment in 1928 renumbering.

PA 95 from Buffalo Creek Road / PA 45 to Lewisburg designated PA 889

PA 889 decommissioned in 1946 great decommissioning in favor of 45 extended over it.

PA 95 eliminated from the alignment and replaced with the designation of PA 192 in 1961 due to the redundancy of Interstate 95 and having two highways designated the same. (PA did this to all of them, and is just now starting to violate its own system, but that's PennDOT for you.)

I knew that Plymouth was long, but I didn't realize it was that long. Wow. Unfortunately I cannot commit to working on it. My time on wikipedia isn't what it used to be. Mercersburg[edit]

Please define "your" interpretation of "notable people," and please do not arbitrarily delete additions. I believe I know enough about the people in my own town and area to know who is notable "regionally" and who is not. I doubt you are going to find bachelor philosophical theses on Google. If you wish to read up on the works of this person, I suggest you contact Shippensburg University's political science department and ask about alumni as these works are not widely available. Williamsport[edit]

Saw your changes to Williamsport and I wanted to point out to that it is South Williamsport, not Williamsport that is where the Little League baseball HQ offices are located and it is South Williamsport that hosts the LLB World Series every year. In case you are unfamiliar, South Williamsport is a much smaller borough than Williamsport and is located on the southern side of the Susquehanna River. Here is LLB's website with more information[1] Little League was "invented" in Williamsport, but the organization has been in South Side for many, many years now. You made a mistake when you read my edit. Look again at what the article says, Neighboring South Williamsport is the headquarters of Little League Baseball and annually hosts the Little League World Series in late summer. i see you do a lot of work on the Steeler page. There's no mention of the 1961-1969 Pittsburgh Steelerettes. RE: North Carolina State Parks[edit]

I do have an interest in trails and protected areas in the southeast, and I happen to know a fair deal about the NC park system and where to find references with information about it. I'm am still learning how to use Wikipedia though, but I can pick up some things fast. I did a revamp of the List of North Carolina state parks and posted some questions to its Talk page. Thank you. I had worked on the list for awhile. I did glance over all of the 49 other state park lists for ideas, but I had not looked closely at the List of Pennsylvania state parks. Also, I didn't know it was a featured list. And yes, time can be short when one is very busy. Even though I've had this account for years, I've not done much with it until now due to a lack of time. This picture does look very much like the board-walk at Haw River State Park. I think it likely is, but I don't see enough detail to be 100% sure. If that image has GPS coordinates, which I was unable to find, that would help place it firmly in the park. –Sparkgap (talk) 02:10, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks - I actually have a fair number of pictures of Little Pine that I need to upload to Commons some day. It is one of those parks I think we could get to FA without too much trouble if we ever had the time ;-) . I got a somewhat better camera and like it (not my dream camera, but I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the images so far). I had seen your Union County pix on Flickr (when I was a kid someone drove a Metropolitan around in my hometown). I will add the Union County list to my mental Wiki to do list. I also seem to be stuck in gnome mode (if PRs count as gnomish work). I have a bunch of pix of LPSP and did some research on it (print stuff, not online) back when we worked on UPBSP - let me know. My favorite story is that they started the dam and some people arrived at their hunting cabin at night and somehow did not know that the creek had been stopped already. PS I heard a story from someone who would know that one northcentral PA hunting club / camp used to cost all the members together about $28,000 a year in property taxes and utilities. New Black Mo pix[edit]

I uploaded 21 or so new pix for Black Mo on Commons - see here. I swapped out the one of the creek already. Also new ones of the dam, old schoolhouse, geese which may be better. Thanks - glad you like them. I also like the boathouse photo. I reallly like the new flying geese photo too, but I think that is more the fact that I got the photo in poor light than anything else. I have some photos of geese wading and eating/dabbling in the bog, but the are not very good. Also have some of a belted kingfisher near the dam, but they are even worse. Hi-I came across the unincorporated communities in Butler County, Pennsylvania. The articles involved needed to be clean up. I added gnis citations to some of the articles concerning the unincorporated communities in Butler County. I started an article on Watters, Pennsylvania because that ended up on the Watters disambiguation page. Flood damage[edit]

I got the photo from the Broad Street bridge ("the green bridge") in Montoursville, which is still closed to all traffic as they inspect it. I had to walk several blocks on Broad Street to get to the bridge and it was heartbreaking to see all the houses and businesses which had lost everything. The curbs were lined with ruined furniture and appliances and household goods, and people were busy carrying out more ruined items. The street and yards were still covered with mud in many places, and at the bridge the creek had peeled away whole strips of grass and uprooted traffic signs, then a few feet away there were untouched signs and lawn. As far as I know officially all the covered bridges in Lycoming and Sullivan Counties survived. However, an IP has added notices that both Sonestown and Hillsgrove CBs were destroyed - see here. I hope it is vandalsim, but given the destruction I have seen so far, it is at least plausible. Ruhrfisch _><>°^° 15:49, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

I vacillate between hope and fear. When I am hopeful I think that the longer we go without any news covereage of two destroyed covered bridges, the more I suspect these are lies. Also the 8th was a much worse day for flooding than the 7th was, but that may just be a mistake on the IP's part. When I am fearful I think that neither bridge is vital to traffic and much of the major highway net in Sullivan County is closed including PA 487 from the Lopez Bridge from Irene, some of US 220, and all of PA 87 (from what I have heard PA 87 is wiped out in places and will have to be totally rebuilt). So it may be they have been too busy to report the losses yet. Compared to the losses of people's homes and businesses (and in Bradford Co. one life) two old bridges are not that much, but I will miss them if they are gone. Thanks for the newspaper link. A different IP has changed Sonestown to heavily damaged (not destroyed), which to me seems more reasonable - still standing. It was damaged in 1996 and this flood was worse. Hillsgrove IP said it was also still standing though badly damaged. I thought it would be OK as it is pretty high above the water, but hard to avoid damage if a house hits. When the roads open, I will try to get to both. Thanks for the minor touchup on the History intro.

Do you have access to any public domain photos of the Jim Thorpe Memorial? Would probably be a great addition, since the Memorial is the whole purpose for the name of the community! I like the neat photos that are already included in the article - feel the Memorial photo would "complete" the article.

DCNR links[edit]

It looks like almost every DCNR URL/link has been changed (not just the official links). I updated the Worlds End State Park DCNR links and all of the "aspx" URLs except the CCC archive had changed diff. Will go back to Yellow Creek... Ruhrfisch _><>°^° 04:08, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

I fixed all of the dead links in Worlds End (finally). Will fix Yellow Creek next, then work on the alphabet Z end towards A. Sigh. Tried to make it to Hillsgrove Covered Bridge this weekend but PA 154 was closed at Worlds End (the road was washed out by the Sullivan County Fairgrounds). The park looked OK - the concession stand had been flooded and the beach was washed away. They have some pictures online of it and I got a nice shot of the rock garden here - is it worth adding to the article? `Ruhrfisch _><>°^° 01:32, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
