For the sake of my conscience, I would like you to note that the article does not say (as far as I know) that the company is the only provider of walk-out-videos in Louisville. Hey Justin, I am a new user and I just got a warning from you about posting an external link. Since the link is to a page that is trying to conduct a study on movie trailers, and the wiki I posted to was on movie trailers... does it really qualify as a promotion? The whole purpose is to measure the effectiveness of trailers in general. Would like to talk to you about this a bit more since I am trying to understand Wiki's. Rubber Duckies[edit]

Hi Justin,

Thanks for your response. I can understand the issue of people putting up a gaziliion links--and self-serving ones. The blog is very interesting and pertinent in showing the development of a rubber duckie. I also know a bunch of duckie manufacturers. So hoe to do this wiki-kosher? make a page so it doesn't link anywhere and have that page be about rubber duckie makers?

I'll report the edit to the duckie history without my name stamp.

Thanks for your help!

Jayce Hein[edit]

Hello Justin, My name is Stacie Hendershot. I am a big fan of Jayce Hein who is a Nashville songwriter. I see that you have place a speedy delete request on my page but I do disagree with that. Jayce is be known for his song "Please" that was and still is played on country radio. He has toured with Meat Loaf as well as many other artists, mostly in the country world. I believe he is worthy of this posting, youcan look him up and see he is the real deal, he doesn't need advertising and that was not my intent. I cited Mark Nemer's website on my page as well. Mark Nemer is a very famous drummer formerly of White Heart and also Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, CeCe Winans and many others. Mark talks about Jayce, and his single "Please" on his site and I got a lot of the information from that. Please reconsider deleting this sir, this is legit.

Sincerely, Stacie Lynn Hendershot —Preceding unsigned comment added by Broyal (talkcontribs) 06:09, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Jayce hein[edit]

Justin, He is not just a singer/songwriter who is good, he has a single on country and sattellite radio. Its not like he is someJoe Shmoe. He was an artist with Warner bros records in the late 90's as well. I dont think you quite understand this because you probably do not listen to this music because if you did you would know who he was. Affinion Group Wikipedia article Justin,

I appeal to your judgment regarding the edits to the Wikipedia article for Affinion Group. I appealed to Vary stating that the previous posts to this page were obvious negative attacks designed to hurt or take revenge on this company. The principle of the Wikipedia site is to offer neutral point of view and usable information for Wikipedia readers. There is nothing in the following information pulled from the NPOV page of the site that states that Wikipedia can be used as a complaints board or a vehicle to cause damage to individuals or companies. I explained to Vary that the company is no longer a part of the Cendant conglomerate that was the force behind the negative experiences some people had with products and services offered. The history section of the article show clearly that there is a history with Cendant and that should be sufficient. Affinion is under new ownership (Apollo Management) and has dramatically changed it's business model and no longer participate in any of the practices that the complaints site. Affinion should be allowed to stand on it's own merits. Thanks for your consideration.

Neutral point of view is a fundamental Wikipedia principle. NPOV is absolute and non-negotiable.

For article specific questions or discussions on NPOV please go to the Neutral POV notice board.

All Wikipedia articles and other encyclopedic content must be written from a neutral point of view (NPOV), representing fairly, and as far as possible without bias, all significant views that have been published by reliable sources. This is non-negotiable and expected on all articles, and of all article editors. For guidance on how to make an article conform to the neutral point of view, see the NPOV tutorial; for examples and explanations that illustrate key aspects of this policy, see Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/FAQ.

Wikipedia:Neutral point of view is one of Wikipedia's three core content policies. The other two are Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:No original research. Jointly, these policies determine the type and quality of material that is acceptable in Wikipedia articles. Because the policies are complementary, they should not be interpreted in isolation from one another, and editors should try to familiarize themselves with all three. The principles upon which these policies are based are non-negotiable and cannot be superseded by other policies or guidelines, or by editors' consensus. Their policy pages may be edited only to improve the application and explanation of the principles. Shearwater63 (talk) 18:02, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Israel service corps[edit]

You placed a {{Db-repost}} on Israel service corps can you please point me to the previous AfD discussion which resulted in deletion. Jon513 (talk) 19:23, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

I couldn't find a previous WP:AFD either so I have declined the speedy - please note that a {{db-repost}} only applies if the article was previously deleted as a result of a discussion, that is, as a result of an AFD. That it was previously speedied or PRODded does not count. Cheers, nancy (talk) 19:34, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Internet Content Syndication Council[edit]

I was wondering if my name change will go through or not? I dont know why my account was blocked and I dont really know why my post for the Internet Content Syndication Council was submitted for speedy deletion. Its a non-profit organization that does research on the effects and value of syndicating content online, much like how syndicated TV programs were a staple for network television not too long ago.

If you could please clarify the reasons why this entry was submitted for speedy deletion I'd happily change the text to suit.

Hands up ...[edit]

Hello Justin. Hands up, but I wish I knew why. I modified a page as encouraged to to within Wikipedia guidelines. Not even in a BOLD fashion I thought - as apparently encouraged. Just added an artist to what I thought was a relevant list and get a first and final warning for it. Or was it that I added a further option to a redirect page?

So, OK it seems I need to take great care if not to be banned from the site fro life, but knowing just what it was I did and how that is classed as vandalism would be very useful infomation in this mine field situation.

Nervously - John. --Jdm art (talk) 18:22, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey - I just took a look at JDM art's edit and your response and I have to say that not only was Jdm's edit *not* vandalism, but in no circumstances did it deserve a final warning. Please retract your warning from his talk page and remember in the future that good-faith edits of other editors (even when they are wrong) are not vandalism. Shell babelfish 20:20, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm sorry if I made it sound I felt like you weren't acting in good faith; I didn't mean to say that at all. I have been in contact with this brand new editor, who definitely needs to slow down and figure out what's going on, but I don't think anything he's done can be considered vandalism. I don't believe level 4 vandalism warnings are appropriate for spam or, in the case, an editor who changed a malformed redirect into a redirect to a different page. What he did may have been incorrect, but there are escalating warnings for spamming which might have helped Jdm understand what he was doing wrong, instead, he wasn't even sure what edit of his caused you to leave that warning. Unless someone is an obvious vandal, we're supposed to try not to WP:BITE the newbies. Shell babelfish 22:45, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Letters from tommy j[edit]

This is a book that is in the Library of Congress. . . Clemson University has it on their list of suggestested reading for the Vietnam War. . . Tommy J. gave his live for this country during a very intense conflict on April 21, 1967. He is a part of history. This addition is a part of history. He is a real hero. Look up Gary Martini . . . he died along side my uncle on the same day. The book is a part of history and is NOT anything that is a blatant sales attempt.Operation Union started on April 21-1967 . . . this is a depiction of the events, from a soldier's eyes, of what led up to that day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tcwlkr (talkcontribs) 17:52, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

deleted external links[edit]

IMDB is about movies. I'm glad the community has accepted them as an exhaustive resource. When a wiki article has no "Further Reading" section, I place that link to relevant books in External Links. The books I am promoting are not redundant to IMDB. They are relevant to the movies, actors, and shows in their own specific way. The books are most specifically for a person whose interest goes deeper than IMDB. IMDB articles are summaries. These books go in-depth for those who desire that. Again, they are not redundant at all. They are researched, in-depth and pertinent. And to clarify, I am not self-promoting either the site or the books. Wikipedia, last I checked, was an encyclopedia. To the extent that IMDB contains a summation of works, it is clearly more encyclopedic... but encyclopedias also point those who are interested in finding out more, to reliable (print) sources. IMDB being an online source of limited depth, is not nearly as reliable as a print source. This is my experience as an adjunct research/writing professor. I tell my students, feel free to look at Wikipedia, but look through to the External Links or References or Further Reading for reliable sources instead of relying on wikipedia as your source.

Please let me know whether you have deleted any links, and which ones.

Thank you,

Why did you delete Grammar with Cindy[edit]

Grammar with Cindy was going to be a great way to educate America and you destroyed. It had value. It was teaching grammar how is that useless.

Sir this is a true outrage that you would delete something that was only teaching. I just wanted to help people learn about grammar and you ruined it by saying it was uninformational and unimportant. Deleting it was a huge mistake. For this isnt the last of Grammar with Cindy. Soon it will be one of the greatest ways to learn grammar online and you and all of wikipedia will be sorry for getting rid of it.

Sorry if it at all sounds rude. I am just trying to vent my true feelings about the deletion.

Feel free to talk about it on my page.

Once again sorry if it sounds rude

Thankyou for reading,

Grammar Cindy (talk) 17:14, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Cindy

At no point did I say that it was "useless." However, it was not appropriate for Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a personal webshost: if you want to publish a series called "Grammar with Cindy," the most appropriate place to do so is on a personal webhost. Justin Eiler (talk) 17:17, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

No problem. This page has been a real pain for me because I am regularly having to remove unsourced hype added by one of the directors! However, IMHO, they are notable because of their awards and they seem genuinely innovative. Mind you, if you find a reliable source that says that they are rubbish, please feel free to add it :-) TerriersFan (talk) 00:58, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

SHOP.COM[edit]

Hi. My entry for SHOP.COM keeps getting deleted and after reading your policies, I thought I had a chance by minimizing the promotional tone (making it sound more encyclopedic) and disclosing my relationship with SHOP.COM (per your page on businesses), but it looks like it still isn't working.

Can you please advise me as to the best way to get this content up on Wikipedia?

It seems Shopping.com's page is similar to what I was adding, so I'm not sure why my post is getting removed. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ss shopgirl (talkcontribs) 01:16, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

hi justin! thanks for alerting me repeatedly for my external links that seem advertising to you. please note that this is my first longer contribution and under construction on my user page, so no one can see it yet. i will create the article only when i feel satisfied with the quality of the article only. i am very well aware of the issues you point out and have taken note of all wikipedia info available. that's actually a reason while i am trying to get together a satisfactory article on my own user page first before making it publicly accessible. what's more i also take guidance from the other articles on freeware games (like flOw e.g.) in order to keep the quality standards up. as the game i am trying to write about was developed independently but made it to quite some fame and in the meantime is also distributed by apple, i think it might make an interesting subject. so i would really appreciate it if you kept the censorship on my article under-construction-and-not-yet-publicy-accessible down a little. many thanks in advance, h:i —Preceding unsigned comment added by Happiness international (talkcontribs) 00:08, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Letters From Tommy J.: A Marine's Story[edit]

Thomas J Holtzclaw Private First Class 2ND PLT, FOX CO, 2ND BN, 1ST MARINES, 1ST MARDIV United States Marine Corps 24 April 1948 - 21 April 1967 Atlanta, Georgia Panel 18E Line 060

The database page for Thomas J Holtzclaw

21 Jan 2008 In June of 1966, when Thomas J. Holtzclaw graduated from O'Keefe High School in Atlanta, Georgia, he was an "A" student with a sweet-sixteen girlfriend and a burning desire to become a Marine. Six months later, he boarded the USS GAFFNEY and headed for Vietnam.

Thomas J. Holtzclaw, III, known to most as Tommy J., was both a boy and a man when he left in December 1966 on the USS GAFFNEY for Vietnam. He wrote letters home almost every day. He was lonely, scared, hopeful and unprepared for the battles, ambushes and lost lives. Every day, he wrote himself home again.

How tragic that someone who inspired poetry and tributes after his untimely death on April 21, 1967 was lost to us before he had the opportunity to make the impact in the world that was his true destiny.

I, his niece, was only 2 when he was killed. I never had the opportunity to know him. Those who did never fully recovered from losing this man who was willing to give his life for this great country.

The bravery he shows in his letters and the ability to show how scared he was makes me proud. But it also makes me cry. He was never able to put into words many of the horrors he saw during his four months in Vietnam. Despite his fears, and facing battle day and night, Tommy J. still managed to worry about his family and tried his best to participate in their lives. He requested very little other than an occasional "Care Package." Even though he was at war he worried about friends, encouraged his closest friend and brother to stay in school and not expose themselves to the dangers of war.

Every letter Tommy J. wrote, which is the only opportunity I've had to get to know him, tells me he was a loving man . . . a caring man . . . a gentle man.

From his niece, Terri C. Walker tcwlkr@aol.com

A Note from The Virtual Wall In April 1967 Fox 2/1 manned an outpost on a hill at Nui Loc Son, running daily (and nightly) patrols to deny the valley below to the enemy. On 21 Apr 1967, most of the company set out on a daylight patrol that took them into the village of Binh Son. As the Marines approached across the rice paddies they were ambushed by a dug-in VC Main Force battalion that enjoyed a clear line of fire across level land with little cover ... Fox 2/1 had run into a hornet's nest. Fourteen Marines were killed and 18 others wounded early in the fight, which continued until other elements of the 1st Marines and the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, arrived and flanked the VC from their fortifications.

By that time 28 Marines from Fox 2/1 were dead:

Accusations of deception are not really appropriate in a deletion discussion. --neonwhite user page talk 02:52, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Greetings, Neon White. I understand the need for good faith, but when a person is deleting {{onesource}}, {{advert}}, and {[tone}}, and claiming that doing so restores a neutral viewpoint, then yes--an accusation of deception is not only appropriate, but necessary to the discussion. Dishonesty does occur--for many, once that dishonesty is exposed, they will drop the dishonesty and get down to the real issues at hand.
I'm sorry you disagree with my accusations. I must--respectfully--stand by not only their accuracy, but the necessity within the conversation. Justin Eiler (talk) 03:22, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
