Karon (Thai: กะรน) is a beach and town on the west coast of Phuket, Thailand. Karon is an abbreviation for 'Ron' or 'Reuuan', which means a huge house of an elderly man named Yom Ma Deung [พ่อตายมดึงส์] who used to live there in the past. Karon is one of the longest beaches in Phuket. It enjoys a 3 kilometers stretch of white sand with views of the Andaman Sea. Karon beach is located in Phuket, southern Thailand. Southern Thailand only contains two seasons which are summer and rain. Rainy weather causes many pests. The beach has an extremely high stat of mosquitos and indoor and outdoor pests. The 2004 tsunami hit the west coast of Phuket island, flooding and damaging nearly all of the major beaches, including Patong, Karon, Kamala, and Kata. In comparison to other areas, Karon Beach was not severely damaged. Phuket, the popular tourist resort, was heavily damaged. There were 250 reported deaths, including visitors. The waves in Karon beach might be pretty large in the low season. People drown off Phuket's beaches every year, and Karon is the worst - if you see huge waves and red flags, please swim in your hotel pool. The beach is great for beach activities which are sunbathing, swimming, relaxing, And others. The residences are affordable and worth visiting. Generally, Karon is quieter than the neighboring. There are few attractions or things to do in the area besides a fantastic beach, restaurants, and pubs, although Kata or Patong are nearby. Karon Beach in Phuket has ideal windsurfing conditions. There are numerous things to do in Karon Beach that are attractive enough to draw tourists. For excellent reasons, Karon is the second most well-liked resort area on Phuket Island. Geography

The southern area has a mountainous terrain and foothill plateau. The area on the east side has a flat terrain and a plain at the foothills. The highest average temperature is 33 degree celcius. The lowest average temperature is 24 degree celcius. Summer starts from December until March. The highest average temperature is 36 degree celcius. The lowest average temperature is 26 degree celcius.

Climate

Karon has an equatorial climate and is in the area where the southwest and northeast monsoons have an impact. It is hot and humid all year round.

Activity

In Phuket, Karon Beach offers the best windsurfing conditions. You have lots of space to maneuver the board around. Sea kayaking, banana boat rides, waterskiing, and wakeboarding are among some of the things to do on Karon Beach, and with fewer jet skis than in Patong, there is more area to operate. In the middle of the beach in the evenings, volleyball is a common activity. When the temperature drops to a point when playing become less of an endurance challenge, they are most lively just before sunset. Snorkeling and scuba diving are two of the most entertaining things at the southern end of Karon Beach. Diving to explore the coral reef's splendor and the school of fish surrounding it. Snorkeling equipment is available to rent from beachside merchants. Additionally suggested for the activity, there is biking. Bikes are available for rent if you want. One of the exercise activities you may perform there is jogging along the beach. There are a couple of shopping places. One of the places that are recommended is the local market. The market is located in the Suwankiriket temple area, which opens twice a week, Tuesday and Friday. Local ingredients, clothes, and stuff reflect Karon's culture.

On Karon Beach, there are many different kinds of resorts, and many of them have on-site restaurants serving a variety of cuisines. Between the beach and Karon Lake, to the immediate north of Karon Circle, there is a fine selection of Thai seafood eateries, and there are numerous more along the beach road between Karon and Kata

High season

The beach is great for sunbathing, swimming, and relaxing during the peak tourist season. A wide selection of hotels is available, from luxury to affordable to mid-range. Nightclubs, restaurants, and other forms of evening entertainment may be found along the Beachfront route.

Low season

Nightlife

The nightlife in the Karon area is equivalent to Patong's, although much quieter. Karon's Soi Bangla is similar to Patong's Soi Bangla in that it features a variety of bars, although on a much smaller scale. Most of Karon's nightlife is concentrated on the pubs found south of Luang Poh Chuan Road and off Patak Road, close to the Karon Circle. Visit Dino Park in the southern tip of Karon for quality family time and a night out with the kids. Here, you can play mini golf, chill with a refreshing beverage, or enjoy a scrumptious dino burger. The side sois are interesting to explore, especially the one that leads to an area where Thai painters have built a complex of huts, bars, and art galleries.

Suwankiriket temple (Wat Karon Temple)

Karon contains 4 buddhist religious sites, which are;

• Suwankiriket temple (Thai: วัดสุวรรณคีรีเขต) - Phuket contains some historically significant temples, and each community has its temple. Karon Beach has a temple as well as a community. The original name was Karon Temple. Suwankiriket temple, which was accepted by loyalty, is the current name. Naha Nikai is the identifier of this temple.

• Kitti Sangkharam temple (Thai: วัดกิตติสังฆาราม) - The other name of this temple is Kata temple. A big white Buddha statue in the posture of subduing Mara Contemporary art, known as Phra Phuttha Mingmongkol Aknakakiri, is one of the temple's highlights.The identifier of this temple is Naha Nikai
• Yuan Phueng monastery (Thai: สำนักสงฆ์ยวนผึ้ง)
• Phra That Phanom monastery (Thai: สำนักสงฆ์พระธาตพนม)

Pest

Malaria and dengue fever are the two primary health risks in Thailand. Japanese encephalitis is also a worry, albeit to a lesser extent.

The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, also known as the Boxing Day Tsunami and the Sumatra-Andaman earthquake by the scientific community, happened on 26 December at 07:58:53 local time (UTC+7), with an epicentre off the west coast of northern Sumatra, Indonesia. An undersea megathrust earthquake with a magnitude of 9.1-9.3 Mw occurred.

An earthquake occurred due to a rupture along the fault line separating the Indian and Burmese plates. Communities in the Indian Ocean's surrounding coasts were destroyed. About two hours after the earthquake, the tsunami reached Thailand's southwestern coast and made its way east through the Andaman Sea. Five hundred kilometres (310 miles) away from the epicentre. Because of Christmas, the region was popular with travellers. The tsunami caught many of these tourists off guard because there was no warning.

As of 10 January 2005, Thailand's overall number of deaths, injuries, and missing persons was 5,309, with 3,370 still missing. For a while, this number has decreased because several people who had gone missing had been discovered. Furthermore, more bodies were discovered. Including checking the identity of the preserved corpse to determine who it is. The tourism industry has suffered the most economic damage. Phuket, Phang Nga, and Krabi are the most affected provinces, with the highest number of tourists killed and injured.
