Buckinghamshire Archaeological Society (BAS) is the most senior body in the county of Buckinghamshire on the topics of Archaeology, Architecture and Local History. It was founded in 1847 as the Architectural and Archaeological Society of the County of Buckingham and is one of the oldest organisations of its kind in the UK.

Flag of Buckinghamshire, which is used as society's emblem.

The society was responsible for founding the Buckinghamshire County Museum, which is currently run by Buckinghamshire County Council. In 1954, it was agreed that the the society would jointly share the running expenses of the Museum with the Council In 1957, the site was eventually leased to the council at a reduced rent due to the aforementioned expenses of running the museum being too great. Each year since 1854, BAS has published a journal, the Records of Buckinghamshire, reporting on archaeological excavations and local, industrial & natural history relating to the county.[2]
