I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Draft:Neville Farmer, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

I am trying to update the Wiki page for Neville Farmer (who I most assuredly am not) and am very new to all this and am struggling with the manual coding of the page. I see your comments about various things I have added in the past day but have no idea how to get the site back online. Well, it's not his site. You can make an effort to figure out what exactly this is--an encyclopedia, not a repository for resumes--and work on that article. Above, I mentioned what I think it needs. Wikipedia:Drafts may have some advice. Drmies (talk) 22:11, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I feel really terrible that I broke that page and will at least undo the stuff I added. As you can probably tell I don't know what I'm doing and I just want to make things whole again. Presumably others will add better quality content than mine over time, but I don't understand how they would do that if the page is offline and can't be found? Is it now my responsibility to get it approved and "back online" and do I have to work with you on this? Like the expression "you break it, you bought it" and I just want to do whatever I have to do to undo my damage and then get the heck away from here! Yes I now appreciate how much more I have to learn about how Wikipedia works... As to the conflict of interest I'm not him, nor a relative of any kind, nor being paid to add things, just someone who met him on a couple of occasions. I hope that clarifies things. I figured this might be a good way to learn more about how Wikipedia works by working on a topic I am sorta familiar with. But I remain very worried about being responsible for fixing what I've done. So what I'm hearing is that yes, there is a kind of a conflict of interest, even though you claim it's minor. It's not a big deal but you just need to acknowledge it in the way it's outlined in the policy, but I can't tell whether you read that policy. As for the article, or now the draft, it was terrible to begin with, and it's going to take serious work to get it right: it needs reliable secondary sources, as was recognized in 2020 already.
