The word retrocede[edit]

The word retrocede was correct in the article about the Hungarian language. Hungary did own those territories. I suggest you familiarize yourself with history. (HUN)Villy 18:59, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your advice, I'll give you an advice in turn: try to familiarize yourself with the meaning of "cede" and "retrocede". :)

Hungary did own those territories but this doesn't really matter as both "cede" and "retrocede" means submitting your territories to other countries. But "retrocede" implies giving _back_ to their previous owners which doesn't suit this situation as the other countries (themselves not having been existed before) were no previous owners of those territories. E.g. Germany had to retrocede Alsace after WWII since they annexed this territory while in turn Hungary never annexed Transylvania (before WWI, of course), it was simply theirs. Therefore I took the liberty to correct it to "cede" so as to clarify things. But you can have it your way if you're so upset about it.--Biziclop 14:01, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tabletop Football[edit]

Hey Biziclop, I ran across your article on Tabletop Football, and thought I'd point you towards a page (in case you hadn't seen it) I made some months ago for Button football, which sounds very similar. It really looks very similar! In fact, "button football" is the exact translation of the hungarian term for the game ("gombfoci"). The actual rules are of course different but the basis of the two games is similar. Funny, because really nobody seems to have heard of this game outside the Carpation Basin. I think I should expand and rearrange the article first (I've had problems with my internet connection recently) and then we could merge them into one article. Maybe a little research whether there is a common origin would be good, too. --Biziclop 16:27, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
