Hi Chris, I just wanted to say "thank you" and congratulations for the marvelous work you did in making the French Republican calendar templates. I have found them to be very useful as well as soundly constructed and attractively designed. I hope they aren't deleted: they are an excellent addition to WP! Peter Gunnarsson Rambo[edit]

I'm an absolute newbee to Wiki Edits. I've added a line and some references to the Wiki article for Peter Gunnarsson Rambo. Should I open a user talk page since I am seldom on-line? My replies could take years literally. Is is a bad idea to put my e-address on a user talk page? I'll check back for an answer. Thanks.

Rsbeatty (talk) 20:51, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It couldn't hurt to use your own talk page. I wouldn't put my e-mail online, but there's a place in the "Preferences" menu where you can enter it so people can e-mail you (I think this keeps it private). Nice additions to Rambo, by the way. --Coemgenus 21:10, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Copy of the wp Bio project on the Rebecca Lukens talk page[edit]

I'm guessing you didn't mean to do this Talk:Rebecca Lukens. I went to change it, but was about to do the same thing! Something is obviously off. Smallbones (talk) 17:08, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New proposal[edit]

Hi Coemgenus, (They sure are taking their sweet time over at RfC). I was just taking in your user page. It's sort of funny that we are on the 'same page' in so many other areas, right down to our Irish and Italian ancestry. In any event I was having second thoughts about the postage/stamp section on the Harrison page, that perhaps there is too much mention of Harrison's postmaster and perhaps other things. I still think a 'catch all' section is not exactly the best approach but instead I have something else in mind that perhaps will make all parties comfortable. We could make a 'Legacy' section, with small sub sections for 'postage' (of course) one for 'currency', and one for 'memorials', and maybe one for paintings and other items. I am going to edit the current postage section on the Harrison page, remove two of the stamp images and try to condense some of the info' making cursory mention of the nation's first commemorative postage stamps. This will be what I hope will be a sub section to a 'legacy' section. Below is a rough draft/outline of what I have in mind.

Legacy
Harrison has a long and interesting legacy..

Postage
More than most presidents, Harrison...
Currency
Currency material, images, etc.
Memorials
Harrison has been the subject of many paintings and statues, etc...

I will be copying most of this message and pasting it in the Harrison discussion page so we can get input from our other friends. Let me know what you think. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 00:35, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of March. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 50. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. On behalf of my co-coordinator Wizardman, we hope we can see you in March. MuZemike delivered by MuZebot 00:30, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback?[edit]

Was this intentional? Mike Christie (talklibrary) 16:52, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, definitely not. It was the unfortunate combination of a touchscreen and fat fingers. Please revert me if you haven't done so already. Sorry for the trouble. --Coemgenus 17:12, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lincoln FAN[edit]

Thanks for your participation here, fellow lawyer! On your first comment re AL's name – I may be trying too hard here; the only edit war I've seen was over the clarity about the given name. Let me know. Carmarg4 (talk) 20:16, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Glad I can help -- this looks to be a big job. Any article with as much interest in it as Lincoln's (with as much potential source material as he has) will be difficult. You've done a good deal of work so far, and I hope we can take it to the finish line. I'll answer about the name thing on the FAC page. --Coemgenus 22:58, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am indeed glad to see you say that you are enjoying the article. Even after the time spent on it, I still am enjoying the work. The improvement of the article is timely (i am in Richmond and there is a lot of focus on the 150 yr. anniversaries of events. Carmarg4 (talk) 20:11, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Did we get the 1848 election comment squared away sufficiently? Carmarg4 (talk) 14:05, 20 April 2011 (UT
Yes, I'll strike it. --Coemgenus 14:14, 20 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again for all your work here; the article is much improved despite no promotion. Carmarg4 (talk) 12:28, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again...FYI, I think the nominator took it to PR just before his nom. I do recall a reviewer at the end recommending a "prose review" (copy editors' guild ?) Carmarg4 (talk) 16:16, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think you helped with the issue about the number of stamps. User:Gwillhickers has reinserted an airmail stamp we removed - it may be okay to keep it - it was apparently the only airmail stamp for a pres.(it may need another source). The point I wanted to raise with you is that this user is a philatelist. I have asked him to please leave a brief description of his edit next time. I really do think it's not right to be "sticking" stamps everywhere without even noting that on the edit summary line. Can we get a senior editor to communicate this? Carmarg4 (talk) 15:14, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the correction re Booth; it prompted a little research and a needed edit I think in the assassination section. I looked up Confederate in the OED = "one belonging to or supporting the CSA". I left the "Confederate" spy in place. Maybe this will initiate a discussion - at least it would be worth the time and effort as opposed to the nonsense we're engulfed in now. Happy holiday, Pal. Dash script[edit]

I installed the script in your monobook.js. There should be a tab with a dash at the top of pages now, and that will run the script. Cheers. — KV5Talk • 18:04, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just read more of your talk page about you and enjoyed it! - ok for "which" and "that", but have you noticed how writers are using "that" rather than "who", as if they're so worried about "who" and "whom", they default to "that"? I thought "who" was supposed to be used for people, but "that" is getting very prevalent.Parkwells (talk) 14:29, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see it in good newspapers, too.Parkwells (talk) 14:40, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Philadelphia, Newtown and New York Railroad[edit]

Where are the footnotes for the Philadelphia, Newtown and New York Railroad? I would be glad to have some.

Mitch Daniels[edit]

Hello! I remember some time back you said you were interested in improving the Mitch Daniels article if he ran for president. I wanted to let you know I've been working on it lately, and think I have it near GA quality. It can obviously still be improved a whole lot. I am 90% sure is going to run, it would awfully unusual if he didn't, given what all hes been up to lately. Anyways, I certainly welcome any comments or help on the article you might be willing to offer. In the last couple weeks, there have been a whole lot of new useful sources put out on the web. —Charles Edward (Talk | Contribs) 14:49, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gwillickers disruptive behavior.[edit]

I'm preparing a user conduct RfC on Gwillickers for disruptive behavior, canvassing and making legal threats. If you're interested in participating I was hoping that you might gather all of the violations he made at Benjamin Harrison. Since I was not involved in that discussion I feel that you have the most perspective related to that. I have a draft page of the RfC in my user space. I copied another ongoing RfC and stripped out the information for use so it's under construction. Feel free to edit in that space or bring up questions on the talk page there. The Benjamin Harrison article would go under the Abe Lincoln one I prepared. Brad (talk) 12:43, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Let me know when and where it is appropriate for me to endorse/certify the disruptive/tendentious behavior. FYI, we had a senior editor and administrator, User talk:Connormah, stop by AL to make an edit tweak in May and I noted this problem for him on his user talk page on May 24 (since archived). I didn't ask him for any action, and he didn't offer any, but he expressed appreciation for all the work on the article - perhaps he would advise on this process. Carmarg4 (talk) 15:15, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Filed at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Gwillhickers. The two users who have unresolved issues with Gwill are Coemgenus and Parkwells. Those two editors must certify that they've tried to resolve an issue with Gwill and failed. Only those two editors (from what I can understand) must reply at the Rfc in the Users certifying the basis for this dispute section within 48 hours or the RfC will be invalid. Other editors like myself can post in the Other users who endorse this summary section. Brad (talk) 10:37, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I belong under "other users" correct? Carmarg4 (talk) 20:32, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Conversation needs to be had at User talk:Brad101/GWALRFC. I can't keep up with all of this page watching. I've just posted an update there. Brad (talk) 10:48, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • (Responding to your message on my talk) Users you mention in the RfC/U should be notified, but if you want to avoid accusations of canvassing, you could explain why they are being notified in the notification itself (rather than having to defend yourself later). For example, following on from the subst message you linked to, "...A discussion is going on there about that editor. You are being invited because your name has been mentioned in the RfC/U." So if you were to notify Wehwalt in this way, the first thing he would/should do is look for his name in the RfC/U and see how it is mentioned. In this case, it would make sense because the RfC/U explicitly says "User:Wehwalt explained the nature of FA biographies, summary style, and reliable sources." Afterwards, Wehwalt might endorse that summary, he might submit a view disagreeing with that, or he might add another view expanding upon that and the RfC/U itself. They do not need to be deeply involved in the issue, but there needs to be a really relevant connection: the user should have said/done something in relation to the subject of the RfC/U or in an earlier step in dispute resolution. Obviously, by one point or another, there should be enough evidence to stand on its own and users who have had no involvement in the issue can comment. Hope that helps (and if you have any other questions or wish for more guidance about a particular instance, don't hesitate to ask; will try to get back to you ASAP)! Ncmvocalist (talk) 19:46, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I had been totally unaware of the dispute page regarding this guy, so your message on my talk page was helpful. Thank you for that. I'd like to add an addendum to the main argument. Is that allowed at this date? I'd have done it sooner had I known about it.Ebanony (talk) 09:18, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if you truly want a break from the nasty stuff[edit]

I have Kenesaw Mountain Landis at PR here. As you are interested in both law and baseball ... Brianboulton is already reviewing the article, but as Landis was not Commissioner of Cricket, I suspect he will have little to say about the baseball part ...--Wehwalt (talk) 15:59, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Landis was an interesting figure. I'll take a look at that if I have some time this week. --Coemgenus 19:21, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks, I'd welcome another view.--Wehwalt (talk) 19:41, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, as I have permission to nom the article for FA, I'm going to close the PR. I'd be grateful if you will keep the review going at the FAC. I will let the other people who expressed an interest in the article know too. The FAC is here.--Wehwalt (talk) 15:53, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Walnut Hill & the R8 Newtown stops[edit]

I've watched these articles for a while, and there's more than NPOV by the obvious R8 supporter that concerns me. I'm not unconvinced that half of these photos are copyright violations. Walnut Hill however, just happens to be in the worst condition of all the articles.Mitch32(Can someone turn on the damn air conditioning?) 14:03, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

One, I'd like to take the photos for public discussion first, not just outright deletion. As for the POV, Walnut Hill & Huntingdon Valley just need their section axed entirely. That adds for anything in the rest of the articles.Mitch32(Can someone turn on the damn air conditioning?) 14:14, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion for WikiProject United States to support WikiProject US Presidents[edit]

It was recently suggested that WikiProject US Presidents might be inactive or semiactive and it might be beneficial to include it in the list of projects supported by WikiProject United States. I have started a discussion on the projects talk page soliciting the opinions of the members of the project if this project would be interested in being supported by WikiProject United States. Please feel free to comment on your opinions about this suggestion. --Kumioko (talk) 02:34, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
