Return

I can't say how pleased I am that that you are returning to UK, and that you may be able to contribute more content again to WP (I saw you on EC's stalking page). You have been missed, especially by the Cheshire Project. Recently I have opted for a quiet life, working on non-controversial content. I have not been involved in any of the recent disputes (apart from one rather rude message on EC's page when I was very angry (and inspired by red medicine!)). Anyway I don't understand much of the what those arb people are spouting about. I have also moved away from the good and featured stuff because I became fed up by pedantic quibbles.

Anyway WP now has articles on all listed churches in Cheshire, and all the important country houses. I have written a lot (too many?) church articles and, still in the heritage area, have recently moved to preparing lists of listed buildings by parish (or unparished area). It's simple, not controversial, and I have found it fascinating. Now there are lists of all the listed buildings in Cheshire and Merseyside, and I am working though Lancashire (my original home county).

I hope your return runs smoothly, that you settle in happily, and that you will resume your valuable contributions. Despite all the rubbishy stuff that goes on in WP, the content matters, and even I get personal feedback from friends, etc, about the material I have added. It must be worthwhile!

Thank you very much for this, Peter. I will ease my way back into editing more content by concentrating on local government history, I think (e.g., civil parishes their histories and related topics to do with expansion of stub articles about these.) I may have to do this gently because my return has been brought about my illness that Chinese health people don't do much about (I had a mini stroke some months ago which, together with peripheral diabetic neuropathy has affected my feet and walking for longer than its other effects) My wife and son have to remain in China because they can't get the visas they used before now, and my son is ill and being treated well in China. So getting my NHS registration back after my GP cheerfully de-registered me 4 years ago will be interesting because I think I will be staying in the UK mostly permanently now. So, a gentle return involving no stress or conflict is a must for me. Thank you again for your message and all your news. You have been very busy and have done a lot of good work since we last chatted. Best wishes to you.  DDStretch  (talk) 16:37, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
