Re:Template:Joint Council of Municipalities

Can you also nominate the remaining templates for deletion? I will support the proposal. As for the template's current shape I know that it can still be improved significantly and that there are parts that are debatable (I am always a bit megalomaniac with my editing and when some marginal topic is given much more attention than some more prominent one it can affect perception). I have this idea that there are troubles with JCM templates for some time but I just until now didn't want to get involved in this again. In fact, I think that the entire topic and the main article deserve major rewriting and a look from a different perspective since its current shape is heavily influenced by edit wars and other misunderstanding we experienced (me firsthand) in the past. Still, I really don't have time and energy to do this at the moment (even this template took me some time).--MirkoS18 (talk) 00:36, 16 January 2017 (UTC)

Chetniks Importance Level

Why is the importance level listed as low for Croatia Wiki on the Chetniks article? The subject plays a considerable role in Croatian history, should it not be mid-importance? Or am I missunderstanding the meaning of the importance levels? Thanks 108.54.93.183 (talk) 15:57, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

If you take a look at the article itself, very little content is actually directly related to Croatia. On the other hand, your point about the role of Chetniks in Croatian history is quite valid. Since "low" is mostly reserved for low-impact, specialist topics, "mid" would appear about right. GregorB (talk) 17:43, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
How does it get changed? Is there a specific admin that would have to do it? 108.54.93.183 (talk) 20:27, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
Generally speaking, anybody can edit the talk page and do it. I just changed it myself. GregorB (talk) 11:27, 28 May 2017 (UTC)

Disruptive Editor

An editor with IP 217.169.210.138 is making disruptive edits again across Balkan related pages. This person was blocked before but is continuing this behavior, as can be seen in their history. Is there a specific person to talk to about this? 108.54.93.183 (talk) 22:48, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

I've taken a look at a small random sample of this IP's edits, and they all looked good to me. Could you provide some examples of disruptive edits? GregorB (talk) 19:37, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

Franjo Babić

In the Franjo Babić, a user Que Seperabit, with an openly anti-Croat sentiment deleted a swath of catagory links at the end of the Franjo Babić article. They seem sourced ro me and have been used in related aryicles for a decade on Wikipedia. Is this user correct? Seems to me they were just looking to remove content that conflicts with their biases... I noticed you edited the article before so want to ask you about it. I restored the links meantime. Thank you. 65.153.254.130 (talk) 09:53, 24 June 2017 (UTC)

Just saw your edits. Thanks for clearing it up. Much appreciated. 65.153.254.130 (talk) 10:06, 24 June 2017 (UTC)
Well, this is what was clear right away. I'll try to tweak the rest, the article could definitely be improved.
The only thing I could find about the circumstances of his death is this - not much, and I don't think povijest.net is a reliable source. GregorB (talk) 10:15, 24 June 2017 (UTC)
The reason it wasn't clear to me at first was that I thought that since an assasination or execution was considered, that it would have the category of executions related. Since it is not concrete confirmation, it probably shouldn't be associated. I appreciate you taking the time. 65.153.254.130 (talk) 10:45, 24 June 2017 (UTC)
No problem. BTW, almost forgot: the external links which were removed are (or had been) dead, so I couldn't review them. Judging from the URLs, they look like self-published sources to me. GregorB (talk) 10:51, 24 June 2017 (UTC)

DYK for Brcko in Zagreb

On 28 August 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Brcko in Zagreb, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the first Croatian fictional film, Brcko in Zagreb, is now considered lost? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Brcko in Zagreb. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Brcko in Zagreb), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Deprod: Croatian Youth Party

Hello, I have deprodded Croatian Youth Party because per policy an article that has been discussed at AFD can't be prodded. If you still wish to pursue deletion you need to open another AFD. I noticed you were the user who originally nominated the article at AFD, and that discussion closed with no consensus. For future reference, AFD discussions closed with no consensus due to lack of participation usually have an implicit understanding that there is no prejudice against speedy renomination. Thanks, —KuyaBriBriTalk 15:42, 11 December 2017 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for December 29

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Blagaj Castle, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Leopold of Austria (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 12:03, 29 December 2017 (UTC)

Survey Invite

I'm working on a study of political motivations and how they affect editing. I'd like to ask you to take a survey. The survey should take no more than 1-2 minutes. Your survey responses will be kept private. Our project is documented at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Wikipedia_%2B_Politics.

Your survey Link: http://uchicago.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9S3JByWf57fXEkR?Q_DL=56np5HpEZWkMlr7_9S3JByWf57fXEkR_MLRP_cNHJhFqHXlac4UB&Q_CHL=gl

I am asking you to participate in this study because you are a frequent editor of pages on Wikipedia that are of political interest. We would like to learn about your experiences in dealing with editors of different political orientations.

Sincere thanks for your help! Porteclefs (talk) 11:55, 8 April 2018 (UTC)

Splinter articles

Hi,

I just wanted to check if your position regarding recent RM closure at World War II persecution of Serbs is still that it does not prevent the creation of splinter articles?

I approached to editor who closed that RM discussion diff but they apparently became inactive. Before I proceed with this dispute, I would appreciate your opinion. Best regards.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 12:12, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for your reply. I apologize for not being clear with my comments because English is not my native language and my knowledge of English language is sometimes insufficient for somewhat complicated issues.
Yes, there is an obvous rough consensus at least what to merge and what to split. That is not the subject of dispute. The dispute is if there was a consensus:
  1. to delete trough renaming the article with major topic
  2. to ban creation of splinter articles
Having in mind that RM closure do not mention any of above mentioned points I would appreiciate if you can present:
  1. your opinion if two days RM discussion between very small group of editors can be used for conclusion that consensus has been reached not only about renaming but also about above mentioned points? Please have in mind that article on the main topic was created 12 years ago and had more than a thousand edits and more than million views until now.
  2. your position about possibility for creation of splinter articles?
Sincerely yours,--Antidiskriminator (talk) 13:13, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

Croatian AfDs

A heads up: a lot of Croatian films were just AfD'ed. Can you help out? You know the film sources better than I do. DaßWölf 02:01, 22 July 2018 (UTC)

I'll try and search Arhinet when it comes back online, the search function seems broken ATM. FYI someone started a topic about the mass nom at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Shadowowl and AfD. DaßWölf 23:22, 22 July 2018 (UTC)
Me too. I think there should've been a discussion first. Hell, it wouldn't have been a bad idea to alert us folks at WT:CRO and WT:FILM too :) We'll see, though. DaßWölf 23:56, 22 July 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, it seems we've missed a few, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Croatia. Maybe we should go over ShadowOwl's recent edits just to make sure there aren't more. DaßWölf 20:53, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
Have a look here just in case if you have time. I don't think I'll have any today. DaßWölf 21:29, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Template:Croatian Census 2011 First Results requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Help creating a new BLP

I've been working on creating a new BLP for a doctor, Luis Diaz (sandbox link). I have a paid COI with Memorial Sloan Kettering, and I saw you made some edits to Hedvig Hricak. If you've got the time to spare, do you think you could take a look at this to help ensure it's in line with Wikipedia's guidelines? I reached out to a couple other editors already, but I appreciate any help I can get.--FacultiesIntact (talk) 00:17, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for your help! I have since changed the article title to "Luis Diaz (physician-scientist)" as I realized that Luis Díaz is a disambiguation page. Could you help me move it into mainspace if you think it's ready?--FacultiesIntact (talk) 18:46, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
Thanks again for everything! I've also been working on some edits to another MSK doctor, Simon N. Powell, but I've been having trouble finding anyone to review my proposed changes. If you have the time or interest, do you think you could take a look? I'd appreciate your eye.--FacultiesIntact (talk) 02:38, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
Hey Gregor, hope you're well! I just wanted to check in and see if you'd had the chance to look at my sandbox or changes for Powell. Unfortunately the article/talk page doesn't seem to have a lot of other activity.--FacultiesIntact (talk) 18:15, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
I've got a sandbox with edits here (and a diff here). The things you fixed had caught my eye, but there was a lot of work to be done on the article. Could you take a look at the sandbox and the talk page? I outlined the changes I'm proposing on the talk page, with one of my goals being removing the banner warnings from the article. Do you think the changes are sufficient to take the banners down?--FacultiesIntact (talk) 19:28, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
It's all good! I appreciate you taking the time regardless. I went ahead and updated that one paper with the remaining co-authors; that was a good catch on your part. Could you merge it into the article proper? I'm refraining due to my COI with MSK.--FacultiesIntact (talk) 21:59, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
That sounds good to me! I'm all for transparency. Thanks again for all your help!--FacultiesIntact (talk) 23:44, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
