re. nat'l anthem of ROC[edit]
Hi, I RV'd one of your edits on National Anthem of the Republic of China regarding the meaning of 黨. However, I'm no extreme expert on Classical Chinese so I didn't want to revert it without checking for info. What did you take it to mean that caused you to change the translation? I'm only really familiar with party offhand and looking through my dictionary I found only e.g. "society" that might have fit. Feel free to revert what I've done if you feel it was in error. However, I'd like to see whatever usage of 黨 it was, for possible future use and of course just verification. Thanks. Duonaut (talk | contribs) 02:05, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
- In fact, this is still controversial in Taiwan today. Because "黨" can refer not only to political parties, but also to friends and peers. The pan-Green coalition tend to the former and therefore often refuse to sing the first two sentences, while pan-blue camps tend to the latter.
- For the definition of this character, you can check 重編國語辭典修訂本, which is an authoritative dictionary published by the Ministry of Education (Taiwan).
