Managing a conflict of interest[edit]
Hello, Iljasb. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Noor Inayat Khan, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;

- So I can't made an edit because I want to add a book that I authored? The point of adding this book title is to show that Noor continues to inspire writers - right up to 2022! Is that not something worth making known? The chances of someone reading my book and specifically reading the poem about Noor and thinking: "I must update Noor's wiki page" are pretty slim. I know this and that is the reason why I decided to do the edit myself. You are being too stringent in applying the criteria that invalidate a contribution.
- Moreover, if you think this is a case of simply promoting my work then tell me how I can convince you otherwise. I'd really like to know. Do you honestly believe anyone expects to sell copies of a book by mentioning it on Wiki? Iljasb (talk) 15:47, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- The COI policy doesn't mean that it can't go in the article but, rather, it exists to avoid bias in content addition. You can make your case on the talk page and, if you get consensus, someone will add it to the article. --RegentsPark (comment) 16:41, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

- As I said, you are being too stringent in applying the criteria that invalidate a contribution. It doesn't make sense. We're talking about a few lines that make a factual statement - there is nothing controversial about it. Where is the "open collaboration" Wiki apparently prides itself on? You have erected unnecessary barriers and collaboration is thus far from open. As an academic I have often criticized Wiki for its lack of objectivity and inaccuracies but in the case of my edit I am adding a simple factual update, nothing more nothing less. If you conceive that as a problem then I'm afraid you've lost any collaboration from me. I sincerely urge you to reconsider the stringency with which you apply the criteria for rejecting an edit.
