Updated Church MOS vs. Wikipedia LDS MOS[edit]

Hello, and thank you for your recent edits to Wikipedia's pages about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While I am sure those edits were made in good faith, as outlined here, there is a big difference between the updated MOS from the Church and Wikipedia's manual of style relating to articles about the Church. That said, both of those manuals of style are in agreement on one point: The full name of the Church should be used in the first reference thereunton in each article about Church-related topics. After that, abbreviations remain acceptable. Therefore, it is inappropriate to try and incorporate the full name of the Church on every mention thereunto in every article about Church-related subjects. By the same token, it is incorrect to try and assume or assert that the Church's manual of style should be used on Wikipedia, where an entirely different, separate, and distinct set of rules and styles applies. Post any questions on this on the talk page to which I linked above. Thank you. --Jgstokes (talk) 03:58, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize if my comment above was too long-winded, but if you have a problem with the Wikipedia MOS for the Church vs. the newly-released guidelines from the Church, you need to discuss those concerns with other Wikipedia editors at the portal page I provided a link to above. And it remains highly inappropriate to try and insert the full name of the Church with every reference to it. Not only is that against Wikipedia policies and practices, it is not even consistent with the guidelines issued by the Church. If you have more specific questions on this, please post them here, or on my talk page. But for now, it would be appreciated if you familiarize yourself with Wikipedia policies and the Church manual of style specifics before trying to enforce or work around either. --Jgstokes (talk) 22:26, 23 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
