How do you nominate an editor to be banned?

One user Imranb35 is persistently doing vandalism, and POV edits despite his contributions being repeatedly undone by different editors and warnings on his talk page. How do you nominate someone to be banned?EaswarH (talk) 07:14, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Do you mean steps to give warnings? If so,I would prefer I not be the person to give him a warning, because the controversial edits involve Indo-Pak affairs, and since I'm from India,my warning would be probably be considered non-NPOV itself.EaswarH (talk) 13:59, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
The citation IS the problem.Said events took place before I was born, and I'm no defence expert. And I can't possibly use Indian Military version, assuming I can find them, because that again is not NPOV.That's why I'm leaving it to the people who do know about these defence matters.EaswarH (talk) 06:38, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

GA: Mongolian language

I already posted such a comment on the review page, but as I'm not sure if you're watching it, I'll post it here as well:

I originally fancied that the article on Mongolian language is rather thoroughly sourced, so I am surprised that it should not pass on exactly this criterion. Well, I'm not totally surprised as most of the content predated the reference and I was very busy adding a great lot of references for previously unsourced material. Now there should be little if any problems to supply missing citations - in principle. But in practice, I did check this article for missing quotations quite a few times and I think it is unlikely that I find exactly the information that you still considered unreferenced. Thus, it would be of extraordinary importance that you point out just where you think citations are missing. The [citation needed]-template would do the job. If you do so, I shall be able to supply all missing citations or delete the unsourced content until 2009-1-10, probably earlier. But as vague as it is now, I'm unable to make use of your critique and improve the article. G Purevdorj (talk) 22:32, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

This is a bit late, I know, but I really feel this could use commenting. Overall, the article was decently sourced. The main issue was the lack of citations in "Phonology", but failing an article outright for that isn't helpful. You might very well have made a very thorough review, but the lack of any motivations with more detail than "not enough citations" made your decision seem rather gratutious. Please try spending more time when reviewing other people's hard work.

Jennifer Brunner GAR

Jennifer Brunner has been nominated for a good article reassessment. Articles are typically reviewed for one week. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to good article quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, the good article status will be removed from the article. Reviewers' concerns are here.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 14:35, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

It isn't obvious to me that anyone at Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/Jennifer Brunner/1 has figured out what things you thought were POV in the paragraphs you cited in the review. Would you care to point out which things you felt were POV in each of the paragraphs that you mentioned.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 00:39, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
If you have any intent to be helpful, point out a sentence or two from each paragraph that you said was POV. Then, I can fix them.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 06:03, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Last I looked, no one could point out any of the POV in the sections you noted in your review. I need help fixing the article. Please point to the stuff you were talking about, so I can fix it.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 06:13, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Editor Review

How about now? Vltava 68 07:39, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Per your request: A review

This review is done with the thought that the candidate is contemplating an RfA in the not too distant future as indicated on my talk page/email. This is a different type of review than one might receive at an editor review. When I perform this type of review, I do so, as the thoughts come to mind:

  • So far your CSD work appears to be better than most. You've properly used G1 on articles that are actually nonsense, which is where a lot of people mess up. Many of the tags seem to be correct.
  • Ooops, I spoke too soon, you tagged an article G1. An article that begins with, Health Research, Incorporated (HRI) is a not-for-profit corporation affiliated with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) and the Roswell Park Center Institute (RPCI). HRI's mission is to assist DOH and RPCI to effectively evaluate, solicit, and administer external financial support for the DOH and RPCI projects. In addition, HRI disseminates the benefits of DOH expertise through programs such as technology transfer. This article does not fit the criteria for G1 in any way shape or form. Did you mean A7? A7 does not require that the entity meet Notability guidelines, in fact it explicity states that the entity only has to make a credible claim at "importance or significance." As such, the lead sentence to this article does just that. HRI's mission is to assist the NYDOH "evaluate, solicit, and administer external financial support" that is a claim of importance/significance---again, avoiding A7 does NOT equate to avoiding deletion via a PROD/CSD.
  • You then nomed a second article for A7, Tecnotoon Animation Cluster is a 2d animation production company based in Mexico, City, Mexico. To date, the studio has earned many local awards, acknowledgments and achievements. Tecnotoon Animation Cluster appears to be a legit company and Tecnotoon Animation Univeristy appears to be a real university! So that saves them from the vandalism fate, I expected to see. So what about the A7? The second sentence includes, "the studio has earned many local awards, acknowledgments and achievements." AND Tecnotoon was a high-end maquila company whose core product was the outsourcing fine 2d animation... traditional 2-D animation was still the dominant medium for feature animated films. (I suspect the past tense is due to a language difference, I suspect the original writer is from Mexico.)
  • This is a personal preference, but I hate reviewing talk pages like yours. By not holding conversations on one page, people end up jumping all over creation to see what is happening. This can be particularly challenging when 3 or 4 people get involved in one discussion and it is going on on 3 or 4 different pages.
  • I see that Malinaccier reviewed you back in November. He gave you some excellent advice.
  • You seem to be very reliant upon tools.
  • Your participation in Wikipedia and Wikipedia Talk spaces are almost non-existent.
  • Don't rush to adminship. A lot of your edits seem to have the eye on becoming an admin. While it isn't bad to see the value of the tools, the fact that you started working on RfAs and making coaching requests so early into your wikicareer, it sends the impression that you are seeking the tools for the wrong reasons.
  • You really need to help build the project in some way shape or form. Without some experience building the project, you don't really understand it.

That being said, my overall impression is positive. A few things to work on.---Balloonman PoppaBalloonCSD Survey Results 05:42, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

GA: Mongolian language2

Dear John! Since you reviewed Mongolian language, 40 new in-line references (about thirty of these pertaining to old material). Some pretty obvious things got references that I earlier felt weren't necessary, but user Gnangarra showed me that it was possible to see a lack of references here, and some stuff was referenced that really was in need of references, including the deletion of one and the modification of two sentences. Moreover, the section on phonology has been expanded and some pictures have been added. I wouldn't want you to press you to justify concerns that you still might have, but if you read over it and find that your previous concerns have indeed been addressed, you might promote it. Best regards, G Purevdorj (talk) 10:02, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Hello, Leujohn. You have new messages at Kgasso's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

It has been nearly a month that you kept the article on Review, and I haven't heard anything from you at Talk:Mangalorean Catholics/GA2. Freind, I don't know whether you even remember that you have kept the article on Review. If you do not have enough time or not interested, then May I suggest you to remove your name from WP:GAN#SOC, so that some other willing reviewer takes the article. The article was nominated on 3 November 2008 (before nearly 3 months) and is still the oldest nomination without a review. Thanks, KensplanetTC 12:14, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Notability of TVNZ MEDIA

A tag has been placed on TVNZ MEDIA requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. AndrewHowse (talk) 18:33, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

This is a redirect page. Vltava 68 06:24, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Leujohn, I notified you because you had requested deletion earlier in its history. As above, it's now a redirect. Apologies if it was unwelcome. Cheers, --AndrewHowse (talk) 19:38, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

RE:Editor Review

I actually rarely don't use the edit summary thingy. (The exception may be the "new section" thing on talk pages, but that's because they don't have a box for the edit summary. Vltava 68 06:23, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Can you say WP:DTR? I knew you could...

Could you please refrain from dropping templates on my talk page for reverts I am making while in the process of vandalism reverting? Thanks. Trusilver 04:54, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

And some advice for you to consider or ignore as you will. I have looked over your talk page and your user page and since you seem to be practically fishing for someone to nominate you to adminship, I want you to consider this: While not everyone agrees with me and there will be those that will vote you down for the most inane and unpredictable of reasons (your age is one of them, be prepared for that), I only have one criteria at all for giving the tools to someone: Can you be trusted to implement them correctly.
I think this experience shows very poorly on you. You show a lack of situational awareness that I find a little bit disturbing. You made the decision to template me without doing any research at all. I know you did no research at all because you made your bad judgment in the same two minute period that you made eleven other edits. Had you gone into the history of Hip Hop, your accusation of me edit warring stems from a single edit (the only one I have ever made on that article) to remove vandalism here[3]. You would also have seen that you even reverted more vandalism BACK TO MY VERSION a short time later. From what I see in your edit history, you are too quick to rely on Huggle to make your decisions for you. I then went through your edits over only the last half hour and found two other inaccurate reverts and warnings that you gave others.[4][5] You are placing edit count ahead of real quality edits. Had this not been the case, you would be making sure you are doing your homework before making potentially bad decisions. But that can all be summed up as one of those "oops, shit. My bad" moments and are easily overlooked. What I don't overlook is your complete refusal to acknowledge your mistake and apologize for it. You show bad judgment and try to disguise it with zealousness.
In other words... Slow down. There is no race for the finish line on Wikipedia. Pay more care to what you are doing and remember that if you don't catch something, there are fifteen other people all watching recent changes right now that will catch it. Trusilver 05:44, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

why did you template me?

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:59.171.66.109&diff=prev&oldid=266257684

was it because I didn't bother logging in and you assumed that as an IP I was just causing problems? - that I would understand, I view IPs with some suspicion - however you might want to check the actual edit before reverting.

or was it because I changed the sock template? The original was placed by me (logged in as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Sennen_goroshi) that was placed when I started the sock investigation - the next template was put there by me again, when the investigation concluded that the user was a sock and banned the account indef.

If you want to respond to this message please do either on this page, or on the talk page of my Sennen Goroshi account - I don't check the IP page that often, infact I only use IP to edit when I forget to login. カンチョーSennen Goroshi ! (talk) 07:11, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi Leujohn -

At the end of December you reviewed Mongolian language for GA status. You then requested a second opinion, which was sort of provided by a second editor. Vote

When I wrote the statement "only using a username when necessary, or to participate in discussions", I was referring to the past, and it is written in the past tense. For what it is worth, the only reason I segment my contributions is because I am only willing to contribute to WP under the condition of anonymity, something that would be extremely unlikely if I did not segment them. Fortunately Wikipedia has a very good privacy policy, but that is only half of the equation. And yes I know that IP editing is far less anonymous than using a registered username. However, most of my 5 to 10 thousand edits are as an IP user, so I see no reason to change now. You know, I make so many edits, that when I put in a website, and have to solve the captcha, not only is the first word often something that my browser recognizes, I have seen both words before sometimes (in that same order). Are you still active in WikiProject Orphanage?

Hi there, I noticed you haven't done any de-orphaning in a while. I'm currently cleaning up the member list at WP:ORPHANAGE, and have moved you to the Inactive list. If you still wish to be listed as "Active" just go ahead and move your name back. Regards, œ 21:10, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Terry Moran

Hi there.

I edited the Terry Moran article noting the controversy with his publishing of an off-the-record interview. I sourced The Politico for the edit. You reverted the edit saying that The Politico is not a reliable source. Is this Wikipedia policy? I find this strange...

Thanks... Peter --69.153.12.112 (talk) 03:02, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

A few months ago, you rated the Esperanto Wikipedia a C-class article. According to C-class description, "Useful to a casual reader, but would not provide a complete picture for even a moderately detailed study." Could you please tell me what criteria you used to evaluate it as a C-class article, and some of the article's shortcomings? I would like to improve the article based on your thoughts. Thanks! -- Yekrats (talk) 19:30, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

I'm not sure if it was actually you, but thanks for pointing me towards creating an account. I already have one, and merely have not logged in.

Thanks,

I wanted to sign that with my actual username, but I couldn't figure out how! It is SCIAG. [User talk:SCIAG]

Thank you for your time and curiosity. As a gesture of appreciation, may I share a rhetorical question from the Analects of Confucius: "Is it not pleasant to learn with a constant perseverance and application?" --Tenmei (talk) 15:48, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Two rakan evoke a teachable moment, searching together for a focal point?
May I offer a proposal? Please consider replacing your username with your signature (four tildes ~~~~) in the list of "active mentors" at User talk:Tenmei/Sub-page Alerts. This is necessary step in a constructive direction.
You may find that what I'm asking for is probably less than you imagine in the short term, or perhaps more than you anticipate in the long term. --Tenmei (talk) 06:47, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
