Hi. When you uploaded Image:BacchusMarshCourtHouseHotel.JPG, you did not specify complete source and copyright information. Another user subsequently tagged it with {{GFDL-presumed}} and, for some time, it has existed on Wikipedia under the assumption that you created the image and you agreed to license it under the GFDL. This assumption, however well-meaning, is not legally sufficient and the tag is being phased out. Images using it are being deleted.

This image has been tagged for deletion and will be deleted in one week if adequate copyright information is not provided.

If you, personally, are the author of this content, meaning that you took the photograph yourself or you created the chart yourself (and it does not use any clipart that you did not create), please retag the image with a free image copyright tag that correctly describes your licensing intentions, usually {{GFDL-self}} or {{PD-self}}. Please also make sure if you have not already done so that you write a good description of what the image depicts, when you took the photo, and other important details. This will allow Wikipedia to continue using the image.

If you did not create the image or if it is derived from the copyrighted works of others, please keep in mind that most images on the internet are copyrighted and are not suitable for use on Wikipedia. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others and does not use images unless we know that they have been freely licensed. Any creative work is automatically copyrighted, even if it lacks a copyright notice. Unless the copyright holder has specifically disclaimed their rights to the image and released it under the GFDL or another compatible license, we cannot use it. If you did not create the image, and cannot make the image compliant with Wikipedia:Non-free content, simply do nothing and it will be deleted in a week. All other non-free images must follow these rules.

Please feel free to contact me on my talk page or leave a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions with any questions you may have. Thank you. Aksibot 07:56, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Matt. You voted 'speedy delete' for the Red Herring Surf article, as it did not have any independant sources. I have now provided six, including newspaper and government sources. I hope you might consider revisiting your decision. Thanks, Neil  08:41, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Calamvale Special School[edit]

You suggested that my entry for Calamvale Special School be deleted. Yeah — whatever. Someone before me had linked to it in an article. When I saw it was in red as an entry that didn't yet exist I thought I was helping by filling in the blanks. It is near my home. I guess we all care more about things in our own backyard than in someone else's. --Zeno Klinker 03:01, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why edit my Wagga Wagga edit. It's positive discrimination. Where's the source to say that they were the original inhabitants?

BGL Corporate Solutions: Notability[edit]

I did not have a chance to complete the article prior to it being deleted. I have notable sources including:

Company Secretaries Australia major participant: http://www.csaust.com/AM/Template.cfm?Section=BGL_Corporate_Solutions ASIC Notability: http://www.asic.gov.au/asic/asic.nsf/byheadline/Software+you+need?opendocument BGL on a Senate Economics Commitee consulting on Corporations Law changes: http://www.aph.gov.au/Senate/committee/economics_ctte/completed_inquiries/2002-04/corp_02/report/footnotes.htm

A search of Google presents many other Government and accredited source results.

The article was going to go on to discuss the nature of self-managed supperannuation market, where there is in excess of AU$500billion being managed through BGL software products.

Their major competitors include MYOB, where they are in fact leaders.

Questions about a new article[edit]

Hi - You posted on my talk page when i signed up that i should ask you questions here - so here's my first one:

I would like to create the article for Trigon Engineering Society (it is referenced on Trigon right now). However, I wanted to see if there was any reason I shouldn't do this - lack of notoriety (it's only been around for 83 years and only has more than a thousand current/alumni members), the fact that I'm a member and former President (does that fall under Wikipedia:Conflict of interest), etc. I don't want to put in the effort if it's just going to get deleted. If I should ask this somewhere else, please feel free to point me in the right direction. Thanks! Tlmii 14:50, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Our friends at Mentone Grammar[edit]

  • Hi Matt. Everything went particularly well on the weekend - hopefully the CD which will be released to us in September will agree. It seems we have a couple or three young bored boys from MGS who obviously do not realise that an imposter is easy to spot - I will keep an eye out for their work as always. Cheers! --VS talk 01:29, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apology (I probably owe you one too!)[edit]

That's OK, I should have made myself clearer. Sorry for my slightly snarky tone, it was at the end of a long day and I was genuinely surprised to see that that article was going up for deletion. No hard feelings, I hope. Hopefully we can work together on something sometime and get along :) Take care! Riana 04:55, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your support and comments at my RfA
Hi Matt, It still amazes me that otherwise "anonymous" editors take the time to place !votes and comments on RfAs and in your case (with all the work we have done together) I particularly appreciated both your RfA comment and the one you placed on my talk page). Whilst I would have normally thanked you at the time of you leaving your message, the importance of my not appearing to be canvassing prevented me from so doing. Now that everything has progressed successfully I can finally thank you. I intend to uphold a style of good adminship and will welcome your further comments at any time in the future, even if they are in the form of admonishment. I will be happy to help as an admin wherever and whenever I can --VS talk 22:54, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:BerriganSCLogo.JPG[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:BerriganSCLogo.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Sunshine Man 12:30, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

create a userpage[edit]

Hello thanks for the message that information was very useful.I was wondering how do i create my own userpage, like all the formating and boxes etc, I have knowledge of how to create tables etc, but is there templates i can copy to my userpage such as, an interest box to say i support the WikiProject Rugby league. --Thirdayparadise 02:45, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AFL Bundaberg-Wide Bay[edit]

My reason for questioning you about that article at the AfD is, you are proposing a merge to a page which in it's current state wouldn't fare any better than Hervey Bay Bombers AFC is. I agree that generally even fairly low-level sporting competitions are worth providing articles for, if only to prevent individual team articles for teams which have no hope of meeting WP:N or WP:CORP. But still the competition / association / league has to meet WP:N or WP:ORG.Garrie 23:06, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cat Oz Jews[edit]

Thanks for that - have waded through some but didnt spot that - amazing junk gets posted to cat pages and never looked at again for years usually. My big problem is for the hundreds if not 000's of cats ive worked on - i just unintentionally bombed my watchlist (20,000+) and am back to 0.  :) some would say that would be liberating : | however - its just Im now not able to going back and check the oz cats that needed more work - oh well less to watch when i hit watchlist - for a while, cheers SatuSuro 03:28, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

my Québec page.[edit]

hey m8.

I'm just commenting you in regard to the page I did of a band from Melbourne, Australia called Québec. no worries about you deleting it, you have to do your job.

however, if my article was without notable content, I meant to include it ASAP. I'm new to Wikipedia editing so I didn't know how to prevent you from deleting it.

the page wasn't something I did about my band or anything, they are actually signed and have a considerable following among the underground Melbourne hardcore scene. their myspace can be view at http://www.myspace.com/wearequebec (if you have any doubts).

I was wondering if at all possible, whether it could be put back up (in addition to the pages I did of their releases).

I spent a good hour on those so it would be good to see them put back up :)

thanks mate. let me know if ya can. I probably won't work out where the fuck the msg is, but I'll try my best.

Port Fairy[edit]

Hi matt,

as a new contributor to Wiki I may not initially understand the workings. I have added trivia to the Port Fairy entry as well as a link to my personal website - this contains a page of free information for site visitors and further links within my site. As a travel writer and photographer for 25 years in Australia, I consider my site to be important tourism advice and a source of free photos. I would like your guidance further on why the links to my site are considered spam. My site is not a commercial site which visitors pay to view, nor is the travel information paid for by anyone.

your comments will be welcomed Aplaces 06:08, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Matt,

thanks for your guidance on my additions to Wikipedia - I'll try to ensure that my travel brain is out of gear for my next contrib. Certainly I missed that guideline about links to own sites and presumed is was ok when I saw accommodation providers doing just that in Victoria. Maybe I'll stick to trivia? cheers and thanks again Aplaces 08:55, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although we invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to S.A.C. Well then what's to say that *all* the people on that list are fake? Besides, what fake edits have I made? And, since you're being particular about it, why don't you list them?

I've spent my time correcting that list, and editing out people who don't belong on it. It may help if you didn't edit legitimate people without proper reasons. BlackbeltMage 12:10, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that in itself, you would think, is a name used between colleagues and close associates of Harry Hampton. Like, for example, how Mariah Carey is called "Mimi" amongst her family. BlackbeltMage 12:10, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy delete of Fullcodepress[edit]

Hi Matt

I can see that you've made many valuable contributions to Wikipedia and I thank you for that, but please be a little less hasty in future before deleting other peoples articles. Your strength is clearly with writing articles, not being destructive and deleting other peoples work.

I'm sure you've read this before:

Before nominating an article for speedy deletion, consider whether it could be improved or reduced to a stub; if so, speedy deletion is probably inappropriate. Contributors sometimes create articles over several edits, so try to avoid deleting a page too soon after its creation if it appears incomplete.

I didn't even have the chance to change anything before it was removed. The article was not blatant advertising and it contained two references. Webstock (a NZ organization) help run FullCodePress and they are a 'not for profit' organization. The costs of running the event are covered through sponsorship, the volunteers receive nothing other than karma points.

FullCodePress is an unusual competitive event, intended to inspire and encourage best practice among the web development community in Australia and NZ.

Rather than a "speedy delete" leaving no time for me (or anyone) to change the article, perhaps you'd consider being a little more helpful and constructive in future and give contributors the opportunity to make things better? I don't regard "make it encyclopedic" as helpful. It tells me nothing about what you object to other than your incorrect assumption that the article was some sort of advertisement.

I'm assuming that you can't re-instate it or get an administrator to reinstate it. Once the contest is over I'll rewrite the article and perhaps you'd do me the courtesy of giving me some time to respond before you delete my work? As a first time user it took some time to figure out how to format the article, include citations, etc, so forgive me for being a miffed that you've deleted it without giving me an opportunity to respond.

cheers, ben Benjamodysseus 23:29, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Matt
Thanks for taking the time to reply and help me out. I have found some independent sources and will use these in my rewrite.
It would have been great if you'd given me the advice before getting the article nuked. The administrator who actually actioned the request surely assumed that some sort of process had been followed before the article was nominated for deletion. Following the advice on the Spam page: "For new users, an alternative is subst:welcomespam may be used for users who may have added spam or inappropriate external links in good faith".
I really appreciate what you were trying to do, but I maintain that I did not receive fair warning. As a first time user and as it was a new article a warning before invoking the deletion process would have been a better approach.
Anyhoo, keep up all the other good work and thanks again for your time.
Cheers, Ben Benjamodysseus 04:15, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Template[edit]

Not that I think it's a problem for you as you've been putting "|quick = on" on the 2006 census template refs anyway from a random check of recent ones you've put in, but the BCP's (a limited form anyway) came out today so I changed the general one to point to the Excel like the 2001 one does - until today both sides of the "if" statement pointed to the exact same link. Any that had |quick=on will still look exactly the same. Orderinchaos 14:51, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
