Obligatory Warnings[edit]

Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Hi! this is a warning you are required to receive by wikipedia when you edit in a contentious topic area, In this case that happened on Katharine Hayhoe. As explained above, you need to be extra careful in these areas of the wiki, because to put it simply the moderators are a bit more banhappy than normal due to past or current controversies and a history of bad behaviour from people who edit there.--Licks-rocks (talk) 15:44, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Charis Fellowship[edit]

Hello Nathan. I see you have done some good work on updates for many church groups. Thanks for your work on that. I did notice that on June 7 you had moved Charis Fellowship to the Charis Alliance page. If I can be of help to correct information I am happy to. Charis Fellowship is actually it's own distinct entity. As an association of churches in the USA/Canada, we are also members of our broader global family Charis Alliance, but there is still seperate distinction. I mention this as I also did not see any reference to the Charis Fellowship website www.charisfellowship.com which has what may be some updated helpful information. There are other updates and adjustments to make beyond that, and I may look into editing the pages in the coming months myself, but thought I would reach out to you first. I am the coordinator for Charis Fellowship and can be contacted through the contact page of our website if needed. Thanks! Tim H 50.32.83.8 (talk) 18:22, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ordination of women in Christianity[edit]

You have violated WP:BRD and WP:3RR. You have removed a mass quantity of information from the article without obtaining consensus on the talk page, even though I asked you to do that. Please self-revert now, or I will file a report and you will be blocked for your tendentious edit warring. AnupamTalk 02:02, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Anupam (talk · contribs). Thank you for the message. The historic shows that you made 3 reverts first. Explanations have been given in the talk pages. The removed content is about denominations that do not (off topic and useless) and duplicates (example: each line says the same thing has been replaced by a title consistent with the main subject : Christian denominations that ordain women). College of Leadership and Theology[edit]

Hi, Nathan B2. I've just seen that you have edited the page College of Leadership and Theology. What I'm wondering about is it you have any sources of why you changed the name of the page to "College of Leadership and Theology" instead of "Norwegian School of Leadership and Theology". Looking at the colleges English website the name seem to be "Norwegian School of Leadership and Theology". Do you have any information that says otherwise? Kindest regards BigWat (talk) 16:08, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello BigWat (talk · contribs). Thank you for the message. The article was renamed to College of Leadership and Theology on March 18, 2023, in an effort to provide a better translation of the school's name (Norwegian: Høyskolen for Ledelse og Teologi). Indeed, the word “Høyskolen” refers more to a college (higher education) in Norwegian, as demonstrated by this category (https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kategori:H%C3%B8yskoler_i_Norge). The English-speaking website is not given on the Norwegian official website and was added on the Norwegian wiki article only on April 17, 2023 (one month later). With the reference mentioned of the English-speaking website, it's a good thing to have renamed the title to Norwegian School of Leadership and Theology. Thanks for your help. Requesting some article expansion help[edit]

Greetings @Nathan B2

Hi, I am User:Bookku, On Wikipedia I engage in, finding information and knowledge gap areas in Wikipedia and promoting expansion of related drafts and articles. Came across some of your contributions .

Requesting your visit to Draft:Re-mosqueing of Hagia Sophia - draft article mainly intends to focus on academic and may be some intellectual discourse in the media about remosqueing of Hagia Sophia.

Since last one year there is more academic literature on the topic which seem to need coverage hence requesting your help expand the topic areas if you find the topic interesting. Wish you very happy Wikipedia editing.

Thanks and warm regards Bookku (talk) 07:37, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Association of churches[edit]

You have changed "Christian denomination" to "association of churches" on hundreds of articles without any consensus. Changes like this require community-wide consensus. Do not make the change again without starting a community-wide discussion. I, for one, oppose these kinds of changes as the majority of the subjects do indeed consider themselves a denomination and are classed that way by scholars, e.g. the American Baptist Churches USA. Per WP:BRD, I have reversed most of your changes, which must must must be discussed. desmay (talk) 22:56, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Desmay (talk · contribs). Thank you for the message. Changes were made to these articles (a large part of which I wrote (outside North America and outside Europe)), in order to be more precise about the nature of these church groups. The term “denominations” to refer to a group of churches is rather American (United States) (Wikipedia:Systemic bias). In other countries, this concerns more a Christian branch (e.g. Baptist Christianity). It is therefore not the most appropriate to refer to these churches, due to the theological autonomy of the churches (Congregationalist polity) and free association. Indeed, in Baptist Christianity and also in certain evangelical movements (Candy Gunther Brown, Mark Silk, The Future of Evangelicalism in America, Columbia University Press, USA, 2016, p. 205-207), the vast majority of church associations are considered to be church associations, by themselves (this can be visible in the name) and by the scholars also (William H. Brackney, Historical Dictionary of the Baptists, Scarecrow Press, 2009, p. 38-40 ; C. Douglas Weaver, In Search of the New Testament Church: The Baptist Story, Mercer University Press, 2008, p. 26 ;Stephen R. Holmes, Baptist Theology, T&T Clark, 2012, p. 104-105). The article Association of churches is also interesting to read. You did well to raise this question, these details have been added in the Baptists#Baptist_organizations section! Thanks for your help. My best wishes of peace and love (Wikipedia:WikiLove).--Nathan B2 (talk) 15:09, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Christian denomination is not just used in the United States, but globally. Regardless of your opinion, community-wide consensus is needed. I still remain steadfast in opposing your changes. Some Baptist churches are independent while most are grouped into denominations. desmay (talk) 17:52, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. Thank you for your contributions. I appreciate your efforts in seeking information that is true and representative of reality. My approach is the same. A-Regarding, the American Baptist Churches USA, you are right. But the introduction reminds us that there are evangelical orientations in this association. This association is a member of the Baptist World Alliance, which considers itself evangelical. So, it's fair to say that a member of an evangelical association can be identified as evangelical. However, I haven't changed anything on this subject in this article and that was not the aim of the modifications... B-Regarding the use of the word associations to talk about these groups, either the aim of the modifications of good faith. The term denomination is well used (examples: by general books about religion or Christianity) to talk about these groups of churches. This is not bad in itself. However, a large part of the websites of these associations and many wiki articles have used the term association consensually for many years:

Example 1: Nagaland Baptist Church Council : 2013‎ [1]- 2018 [2]). Example 2: Baptist Convention of Hong Kong : 2008‎ [3]- 2019 [4]). Example 3: Myanmar Baptist Convention :2003[5]- 2018 [6]). Example 4: Canadian Baptist Ministries :2003[7]]- 2013 [[8]. Example 5: North American Baptist Conference :2003[9]- 2022 [10]. Example 6: Baptist Churches of New Zealand :2003[11]- 2019 [12]. Example 7: Baptists Together :2003[13]- 2020 [14]).

And this is what led me to do further research to find that they were right. Indeed, scholars specializing in the study of Baptist Christianity and certain evangelical movements have demonstrated that the word association of churches is more representative when speaking of these groups. I added the citations in the references. I'm glad to have spoken with you, your questions helped improve my explanations on the subject. I am confident that we will find a peaceful solution together. A Merry Christmas in advance! Thanks for your help. My best wishes of peace and love (Wikipedia:WikiLove).--Nathan B2 (talk) 15:00, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
