The Prisoner (song)[edit]

I see that you had done this edit :

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Prisoner_%28song%29&diff=123192067&oldid=106739464

Well, just wanted to say that that section you added was unnecessary as it is a word-to-word copy of the text already there. Be sure to check next time you're doing something like this ;) Cheers and have a nice day =]] — Prodigenous Zee - 12:13, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and thanks for letting me know! I didn't write the new section; I just dumped it all in from a different page on the same topic so I could make a redirect. I was going through rearranging a large category of songs and didn't want to stop and check the details (I get distracted easily, was trying to stay focused on one task at a time). Delete away. :) NerwenGreen 17:19, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Guster songs[edit]

Thanks for you help with editing Guster songs. If you would like to create an article for another Guster song or add onto existing ones, I'd greatly appreciate it! - hmwith 17:31, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. :) Alas I can't help beyond what I already did, as I don't actually know anything about Guster. I was just passing through while cleaning out Category:Songs. Good luck with it though. :) NerwenGreen 18:50, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rebel Without A Cause[edit]

Thanks for your comment.

Right now there are 4 variants:

  • Rebel Without a Cause
  • Rebel without a Cause
  • Rebel Without a cause
  • Rebel without a cause

Does that mean that, for each of these 4 variants, I have to redirect the same titles using a CAPITAL "A" for the 3rd word -- thereby creating 8 variants? And then, for each of those 8 variants, redirect the same 8 titles with a lower case "r" for the 1st word? (16 variants total) That seems crazy. Is that the process? Thanks. (JosephASpadaro 01:01, 24 April 2007 (UTC))[reply]

If you want every single one of the variants to have a redirect, then yes, you would need to make a page for each. However, in most cases I don't think it's necessary. Just go for the ones people are most likely to search on, and if they use a different one the search page will give alternates (or they can find it via Google). You could try asking over at the page I linked before, too (Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)) ... they know this stuff in much more detail than I do. :)
Good luck with it. NerwenGreen 01:07, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Helpme[edit]

Sorry, I seem to be bungling things here...I added the tag because I uploaded a picture, Image:Seesun.jpg, which has been listed for speedy deletion, and I want to make sure I'm doing the tagging correctly. The owner of this picture has retained the copyright but has allowed it for use on Wikipedia and for any kind of promotional usage. How do I indicate this properly? The Road Song of the Transport Cadets[edit]

Thanks for your comments on The Road Song of the Transport Cadets. I originally put the prod up and I have to agree that as it stands, the article does not have enough context to survive but I have absolutely no objection to you removing the prod if you are able to provide some context. Another possibility is to send the article to AfD since there's a greater chance that someone who knows enough can dig up the right references (if these exist at all of course). Skidaway Skidaway Institute of Oceanography[edit]

Just wanted to notify you that I marked the article you provided previous input to (the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography) as a possible {{copyvio}} in case you wanted to comment or correct.
Absolon S. Kent 13:22, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. Unfortunately I have too many other things on my plate at the moment and won't be able to fix it within the given amount of time, so we might as well let it be deleted and I'll re-create it with better content later on. Nerwen 19:05, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:SkIO campus.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SkIO campus.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 10:09, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Removing unsourced information[edit]

I noticed you reverted my edit to Rosolina (song). I don't believe that you should wait a week before removing unsourced information, however. WP:V says absolutely nothing about it, instead urging editors to remove unsourced information as soon as possible. Crystallina 05:39, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What I meant was that the person who started the article had only started it about a week before your removal of content. Sometimes it takes a while for someone to build up an article from a tiny stub, and it's good to be patient for a little while, wait and see whether they do anything more with it, before interfering.
Also: do you know the song in question? That the information was definitely false? If so, I'd like to suggest you explain these sorts of things on article Talk pages whenever you remove content. I've found that it's generally more constructive to err on the side of caution when it comes to topics you don't personally know much about, and to search around for information sources yourself before deciding whether to delete it or leave it.
Also also: keep in mind that the guidelines are just that - guidelines. It's good to think about the spirit of their presence rather than just unquestioningly follow them to the letter.

Thanks for pointing this out, Absolon. I can't commit any time to it at the moment, but I'll keep it in mind for later. Nerwen (talk) 09:15, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:RPoL-banner-light.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:RPoL-banner-light.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 07:24, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:16, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
